The Role

As the Global Vice President of Delivery Operations for Core Enterprise and zCloud, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership, transformation, and optimization of our global service delivery operations for our Core Enterprise and zCloud Practice. The practice is market leading in its space and accounts for 1/3 of Kyndryls overall business and encompare ~7k highly talented Mainframers for IBM z and IBM i platform.

This is a transformational role at a great time for the industry. Our Core Enterprise practice manages over 50% of the worlds outsourced mainframe (IBMz and IBMi platforms) and have a unique position as market leader in this area. This provide an excellent and exciting growth opportunity and challenge to be leading the market for mainframe (z and i) services, setting standards for our current and future delivery and continue to develop the market leading talent programs for Kyndryl in this space.

You will oversee cross-functional teams, ensuring that service delivery meets the highest standards of excellence, efficiency, and innovation. This role will involve setting the vision and direction for the mainframe services landscape (z and i), driving automation and modernization efforts, managing major incident resolutions, and ensuring seamless global operations across regions. You will be accountable for the global strategy, operational execution, and continuous improvement of the mainframe services to deliver outstanding results for the business. At the same time you will be working hand in hand with the Global Delivery leadership team to be an integral part of our Delivery transformation as well as working hand in hand with the Country Delivery leadership to create the best integrated delivery models for Kyndryl and the Practice.

You will play a key role in shaping the future of mainframe services, leading the development of key performance metrics, and driving digital transformation initiatives to stay ahead of industry trends.

In this role you will be a core member of the Core Enterprise and zCloud senior leadership team as well as the Global Delivery team. You will work closely with our Global and local executive team including the Country practice leader, the go-to-market teams in each country, the global offerings teams, our mainframe CTO and his engineering team as well as our CIC's & global delivery leadership, to ensure we shape our business value for our customers. We seek a leader that will be able to be recognized as a thought leader in the market for our Mainframe and IBMi practice.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Delivery Operations Oversight:
  • Provide visionary leadership for global Core Enterprise and zCloud service delivery, driving alignment with business objectives, ensuring robust operations, and overseeing the strategic direction of mainframe services across all regions.
  • Develop and execute global strategies for mainframe operations that prioritize service excellence, scalability, and long-term sustainability.


Global Team Leadership & Organizational Development:
  • Lead a global, matrixed team across multiple regions, ensuring strategic alignment, operational efficiency, and cohesive execution of delivery objectives.
  • Cultivate and develop a high-performance culture, driving innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning across teams.


Major Incident Management & Root Cause Analysis (RCA):
  • Ensure the global team swiftly addresses and resolves major incidents, minimizing business impact and driving improvements in incident management processes.
  • Lead strategic initiatives around Root Cause Analysis (RCA), promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement to prevent recurring issues and enhance operational stability.


Advanced Service Delivery & Continuous Improvement:
  • Define and drive advanced delivery objectives, focusing on automation, process optimization, and operational innovation to deliver exceptional mainframe services at scale.
  • Spearhead transformation efforts aimed at improving efficiency and performance through the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and best-in-class operational practices.


Global Automation & Efficiency Strategy:
  • Lead global efforts to implement automation technologies (such as Kyndryl Bridge) and drive the adoption of AI-driven solutions to optimize service delivery, reduce operational costs, and enhance service agility.
  • Set and monitor efficiency targets across the organization, ensuring global delivery teams meet or exceed performance goals.


Global Tools & zCloud Integration:
  • Oversee the integration and optimization of global tools and platforms to ensure seamless monitoring, reporting, and performance management across all delivery channels.
  • Lead the strategic implementation and scaling of zCloud and other advanced cloud technologies to enhance mainframe service offerings.


Skills Development & Organizational Vitality:
  • Continue to develop and implement a global skills development program that ensures teams are equipped with the latest expertise in AI, mainframe technologies, and modernization techniques. We are know to be the leader in this area so the role include continuing to develp our skills development program to ensure we stay ahead as the undisputed market leader.
  • Foster an environment of continuous growth, driving talent acquisition, retention, and professional development to maintain a skilled and engaged workforce.


Stakeholder Management & Executive Reporting:
  • Regularly report to executive leadership, providing clear updates on the status of mainframe operations, service delivery metrics, incident resolutions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the senior leadership team, providing thought leadership and strategic insights on global service delivery and technology trends.

Who You Are

Qualifications:
  • Proven customer facing experience and track record of leadership in global IT operations, mainframe service delivery, or technology transformation at an executive level (Director, VP, or similar).
  • Extensive experience in incident management, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and service delivery strategy in complex global environments.
  • Expertise in driving digital transformation, including automation, AI, cloud integration, and mainframe modernization.
  • Strong background in customer facing roles as well as global team leadership, with experience managing matrixed teams across multiple geographies.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic operational initiatives that drive significant business impact.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing large-scale budgets and resources across a global organization.
  • Excellent communication and executive presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders and the board.
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or equivalent preferred.


Preferred Skills:
  • Expertise in mainframe technology and delivery, cloud-native technologies, and other mainframe modernization platforms.
  • Experience with global service delivery tools and performance monitoring systems.
  • Proven ability to drive change management and lead large-scale organizational change initiatives.
  • Experience in stakeholder management and collaborating with other C-suite executives to shape and deliver strategic objectives.
