Highline Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Director of Human Resources (Recruitment & Hiring Portfolio) to join our Human Resources team starting this July!

SUMMARY: The position of Assistant Director is a member of the leadership team within the Department of Human Resources. They must be capable of strategic and systemic thinking and be able to collaborate, making certain the functions of the department are integrated, aligned, supportive of one another and contribute to the district's mission and goals. The Assistant Director provides strategic systems leadership as a trainer, consultant and direct actor, and departmental leadership ensuring meaningful services, support and programs that center human dignity in all contexts, at all times.

RECRUITMENT & HIRING PROFILE SUMMARY: The Assistant Director assigned this portfolio is responsible for the implementation of our workforce planning strategy including recruitment, hiring and vacancy management aligned to equitable hiring and nondiscrimination practices. As the leader of highly skilled team, the Assistant Director provides coaching, mentoring and leadership development to ensure measurable success in the implementation of our recruitment and hiring strategies. The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative leader who can translate strategy to implementation and execution, solicits the content-knowledge and expertise of the team is accountable to the strategic lens on systems alignment. They have a high tolerance for ambiguity and change processes - and take a leadership role to facilitate the team through that change. They understand the role of staffing to ensure we have high quality educators prepared to deliver on Our Promise of equitable teaching and learning for all students.

Please note the following hiring timeline: This position will close to applicants on Wednesday, May 7th at 11:30pm PST. HR minimum qualification screening and district centralized screenings will take place on a rolling basis through May 9th, followed by hiring manager screening beginning on May 13th.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field**; and
  • Four (4) years of experience in relevant context (e.g. public education, labor relations, human resources)
  • **Four (4) years of additional experience may be an alternative to the formal education requirement.

PREFFERED EXPERIENCE:
  • Increasing responsibility including leadership/supervision
  • Experience supporting K-12 educational environments and/or direct instructional experience
