THE POSITION

In the role of the Operations Director, you will be responsible for leading and managing the operations team and supporting the department's mission of promoting healthy behaviors, preventing diseases, and ensuring safe and quality health care for all. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will act as a liaison between various departments and provide strategic direction for the overall operation of the department. You will be involved in managing budgets, procurement processes, human resources (HR), and information technology to ensure that all operations run smoothly and efficiently. You will also oversee facilities and fleet management, as well as monitoring and compliance of various reports and processes. Your diplomatic skills and ability to coordinate across departments will be crucial in maintaining a cohesive and effective department.

This position requires strong organizational skills, as you will be responsible for forecasting and overseeing the use of the department's commonwealth-owned and leased spaces. You will work closely with the Budget Office and the Deputy Secretary of Administration to proactively address the need for new or reduced space based on factors such as staffing levels, fluctuations in employee numbers, telework agreements, and home headquartering agreements. You will also have an opportunity to utilize your knowledge to develop creative plans to address space issues such as co-location, hoteling or multi-use space, cyclical needs, recruiting challenges related to work location, and more. Additionally, you will analyze data from various HR reports, develop policies and procedures, and make recommendations to the Deputy Secretary of Administration on operational matters. Finally, you will serve as the project manager for high-profile projects for the Executive Office and across the agency.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as an Administrative Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in progressively responsible and varied office management of staff work in public or private organization, including experience in personnel management budgeting or procurement; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four-year college or university; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
