Hours per Shift: 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM
Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography) preferred
License: High School Diploma/G.E.D. required
Certifications: Registered as American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or via CCI as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) required
Must-Have:
Graduate of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate academic program in health science.
Graduate of a programmatically accredited program in cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography) strongly preferred.
BLS (AHA) certification required.
Description:
Provides specialized cardiovascular care while maintaining maximum patient safety and comfort.
Performs and reviews a baseline patient assessment and evaluates patient response to diagnostic cardiac procedures.
Proficient in the operation and maintenance of all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment used for procedures in the specific area of operation.
Performs accurate and thorough echocardiograms as ordered by the physician.
Performs specialized testing using computer-assisted devices, including, but not limited to, TEE, Stress Echo, and Pharmacological Stress Echo.
Cross-trained to perform EKGs, Treadmills, and Holter monitors as needed.
Maintains and reviews equipment, ensuring proper function and calibration of machines.
Maintains a high skill level through participation in continuous quality improvement, in-services, ongoing education, and attendance at 80% of staff meetings.
Ability to provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department and facility policy.
Recognizes and promptly acts upon unusual results or patient response, informing the primary health care team to ensure patient safety and foster optimal outcomes.
Must be able to deal with many different personality types, ages, and levels of consciousness of patients.
Must be able to adjust approach based on patient or family level of understanding of test procedures.
Promptly troubleshoots and corrects recording instrument malfunctions or unusual patient problems that interfere with recordings.
Independently prioritizes clinical and administrative work and identifies process improvements.
Processes patient and department records, ensuring documentation of performed tests in accordance with hospital standards.
