The Director, in collaboration with the Board of Directors and the Executive Director of the Institute for Evangelization, is to implement the evangelizing mission for the Msgr. O'Dwyer Retreat Center. This includes sustaining and growing the Center as a place for life-changing encounters with the Lord. The Director will oversee the scheduling and booking, group care, and maintenance needs of the Center, and is responsible for ensuring the sound fiscal management and fund development for the Center.
The Msgr. O'Dwyer Retreat Center is owned by the Archdiocese of Baltimore, and the Institute for Evangelization is responsible for ensuring its mission and management with the Board of Directors.

The Msgr. O'Dwyer Retreat Center is owned by the Archdiocese of Baltimore, and the Institute for Evangelization is responsible for ensuring its mission and management with the Board of Directors.
Essential Functions:
- Ensures that the scheduling of retreat groups is effectively coordinated for maximum utilization of Center resources, and that a positive retreat experience is created.
- Oversees relations and networking with primary constituencies such as high school campus ministers, directors of youth and/or young adult ministry, and directors of religious education, as well as pastors and administrators.
- Prepares and oversees the operating budget approved by the Board of Directors. Contracts with and supervises firm that provides accounting and bookkeeping services for the Center.
- Oversees the hiring of all Center staff in consultation with the HR for Central Services at the Catholic Center and the Executive Director of the Institute for Evangelization. Is responsible for staff supervision and professional development. Assigns duties and responsibilities to the Center staff as appropriate.
- Oversees and participates in development and marketing efforts in coordination with the Center Director of Development.
- Oversees all maintenance, repair, and improvement for the Center in coordination with the Center Facilities Manager.
- Oversees and negotiates service, supplier, and equipment agreements for the Center.
- Ensures food service is provided by contracting with and supervising catering company.
- Ensures housekeeping is provided by contracting with and scheduling cleaning company.
- Provides reports and information to, and coordinates with, Board Officers and Directors, Officers of the Corporation, and committees of the Board. Attends all Board Meetings and assists in identifying and recruiting new Directors. Serves as an ex-officio, non-voting member of the Board of Directors and also serves as its President.
- Meets regularly with the Executive Director of the Institute for Evangelization. Supports efforts and initiatives of the Institute for Evangelization and collaborates with its staff members.
- Attends Institute for Evangelization meetings as required, and any archdiocesan meeting that pertains to the Center.
- Coordinates and meets with other appropriate Departments at the Catholic Center as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of the Institute for Evangelization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required in ministry, education, business, finance, or related field. Master's Degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years' experience in ministry or related experience.
- Minimum of three years' experience in personnel management.
- Experience in strategic leadership, budget planning and finance, development and fundraising, and facilities management strongly preferred.
- A practicing Catholic with a commitment to evangelization.
- Able to create and promote a welcoming, hospitable, accessible and enriching community atmosphere and experience for visitors.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, initiatives, and projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently, make decisions, and manage personnel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills required to work effectively with Center staff, contractors, and leaders of groups.
- Ability to use a computer, utilizing Microsoft Office including Word and Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and a web browser is required.
- Respect for and attentiveness to intercultural competency and openness to ongoing formation around cultural biases, particularly in a church setting
