As a Project Engineering Manager, you'll manage multiple, complex concurrent projects while leveraging our engineering workflow process current engineering processes. You may also serve any role on assigned large capital projects.

We are looking for:
- a bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
- 7+ years of experience
- progressive experience in manufacturing, reliability, continuous improvement, systems engineering, controls engineering, and / or industrial engineering practices

What is the work?
Management / Project Management:
- Manages all aspects of engineering projects from feasibility through start-up for new equipment, processes, procedures, systems, including scoping, financial assessment, project handoff / support
- Develops, manages, leads implementation of one or more capital projects (scope, timing, cost); focuses on process improvements, innovation, new processing lines, production facilities, and productivity / capacity improvements
- Develops project charters; ensures project objectives, scope, rationale, and success criteria are adequately defined, documented, and approved in writing by key stakeholders prior to commencement of work and budget expenditures
- Plans / manages project budgets and detailed cash flow with estimation of project final cost
- Collaborates cross-functionally to ensure shared goals are met; interacts / engages with senior leadership on project updates, reporting
- Produces design ideas, concepts, specific solutions with minimal design guidance
- Develops requests for proposal (RFP); seeks out, qualifies, bids, manages projects with contractors / subcontractors
- Prepares documentation for hand-off to consultants, including equipment specifications, floor plans, building details, site plans
- Collaborates with equipment suppliers to develop specifications; qualifies / accepts equipment pre-delivery
- Coordinates / conducts on-site inspections during construction and installation
- Prepares project status reports; keeps management, clients, others informed of project status / related issues
- Confers with project personnel; provides technical advice; resolves problems; monitors progress; redirects efforts as needed
- Coordinates / responds to change requests from original specifications; provides solutions / alternatives for requests from Operations, Marketing, QA, etc.
- Coordinates with external consultants on best practices for training, technology, and streamlined processes
- Coordinates forecasting of capital budget for fiscal planning input; monitors monthly program expenditures; keeps overall program within annual budget
- Coordinates with other functional disciplines (architectural, MEPR, civil, landscape, structural, etc.) for integration with current manufacturing standards, QA, Operations, and regulatory agencies
- Reads / reviews construction documents for accuracy and content; edits / revises drawings, manually, electronically
- Researches / develops/ proposes appropriate new project applications
- May lead a small team of Partners

Strategy:
- Partners with specific plants to deliver on capital planning exercises
- Tracks plant capital plans and cash flow to ensure timely execution of initiatives
- Serves as engineering process(es) owner at assigned plant
- Provides input for long-range facility planning, including facility layout planning and design

What is your background?
- A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience
- 7+ years of PM experience in a food, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, personal care, or similar industry
- Progressive experience in manufacturing, reliability, continuous improvement, systems engineering, controls engineering, and / or industrial engineering practices
- Experience on retrofit and revamp type projects (brownfield) requiring complex phasing plans while also maintaining current production at client site
- Experience in PM, continuous improvement, reliability, systems engineering, or similar work
- Experience in industrial engineering practices (preferred)
- Experience working in manufacturing (preferred)
- PMP or CPP certification (preferred)

Do you have what it takes to be a fit as a Sr Project Engineering Mgr at H-E-B?
- Working knowledge of basic finance, including budgeting, capital budgeting, and overall expense accounting
- Knowledge of building systems and construction document assembly
- Understanding of development / execution of industry standard procedures (e.g., FATs, SATs, CQVs) and project / budget controls from ideation through project close-out, including post audit
- Expert skills in MS Office, AutoCAD, and other software related to concept development, construction, and installation documents
- Advanced project management and negotiating skills
- Advanced organization, planning, and time-management skills
- Strong verbal / written communication and presentation skills
- Ability to translate concepts to functional capability
- Ability to collaborate with / lead technically diverse, cross-functional project teams
- Ability to lead complex projects to successful start-up, within budget, on a committed timeline
- Ability for creative problem-solving
