Position: Director of Human Resources
Qualifications:
  • Illinois Professional Educator License, with General Administrative endorsement;
  • Minimum of three years of administrative experience;
  • Knowledge and experience in personnel management, and union contract administration;
  • Previous experience in special education supervision, preferred;
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws, certification/licensure requirements, and collective bargaining agreements

Direct Supervisor: Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources

Overview of Position:
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for supporting the daily operations and strategic initiatives of the Human Resources Department in alignment with the goals set by the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources. This leadership role involves assisting with employee recruitment, onboarding, compliance, staff relations, contract administration, certification, and professional development. The Director will collaborate closely with HR staff, district administration, and school leaders to ensure that personnel services are efficient, equitable, and in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Performance Responsibilities:
1. Human Resources Support and Operations
A. Assist with the administration of daily HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and compliance.
B. Support implementation and monitoring of personnel policies, procedures, and best practices.
2. Recruitment and Hiring
A. Coordinate aspects of the hiring process, including posting vacancies, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and ensuring licensure and credential verification.
B. Support outreach efforts to universities, professional networks, and recruitment fairs.
3. Employee Records and Compliance
A. Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of personnel files and electronic records, including licensure, certifications, evaluations, and employment documentation.
B. Assist with audits, state reporting requirements, and compliance with PERA and tenure tracking.
4. Labor Relations and Contract Administration
A. Support the Assistant Superintendent during collective bargaining and labor management meetings.
B. Assist in interpreting contract language and tracking key labor timelines and deliverables.
5. Staff Support and Evaluation
A. Monitor and maintain timelines for staff evaluation processes across employee groups.
B. Assist with organizing new staff orientation, substitute coordination, professional development events, and staff recognition initiatives.
6. Policy, Investigations, and FOIA Support
A. Help review and revise personnel policies and handbooks in coordination with district leadership.
B. Support internal investigations, disciplinary processes, and respond to employee inquiries.
C. Assist in processing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests as needed.
7. Collaboration and Communication
A. Serve as a liaison between the HR office and other departments including Educational Services, instructional Services, and the Business Department.
B. Provide support to school leaders, staff, and administrative teams on HR-related matters.
8. Other Duties
A. Participate in district-wide initiatives aligned with strategic goals.
B. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Salary: $119,000 - $148,000 per year, based on experience
