Our Claim Managers oversee the adjusting and processing of claims within their assigned unit. Oversight of claims team will include, but not limited to: provide direction on claim assignments and coverage analysis, establishment of and adherence to action plans in claim files, reserve accuracy, effective negotiation and appropriate resolution. Mentor, coach and train claim handlers as assigned. Position is remote capable for candidates located within our operating states (OR, WA, CA, ID).
In this role, the Claim Manager will lead and direct claim handlers with a focus on resolving commercial auto physical damage and bodily injury claims.

In this role, the Claim Manager will lead and direct claim handlers with a focus on resolving commercial auto physical damage and bodily injury claims.
Essential Functions:
- Direct management of claim handlers and their claim files as assigned.
- Monitor adjusting practices to ensure adherence to corporate claim philosophies, standards, policies and procedures.
- Monitor reserve, settlement and recovery activity; making adjustments as needed.
- Monitor claim adjustment and processing practices, recommending changes as appropriate according to claim handling guidelines.
- Review claims over claim handler's authority limit and authorize payment; conferring with senior managers, as appropriate.
- Complete and maintain appropriate diary on team assigned claim files in adherence to guidelines.
- Identify and recommend staff training needs, providing training and development as needed.
- Hire, train, develop and conduct performance and salary evaluations on assigned staff.
- Manage special projects as assigned by the director and claim vice-president.
- Assist with the implementation and communication of personnel programs and policies.
- Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.
- Arrives to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field and a minimum of 5 years experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the required skills.
- Previous experience successfully managing staff.
- Demonstrated considerable knowledge of technical principles related to claim handling and Commercial Casualty lines or other assigned area(s) of expertise.
- Considerable knowledge of general insurance principles and claim processing policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of legal principles surrounding claim handling.
- Proven ability to train, develop and motivate others.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products and work-related programs.
- Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and communication skills.
- Valid State Driver's License and acceptable driving record may be required.
