Since 2008, the Roswell Park Care Network (RPCI Oncology, PC) has provided high-quality, community-based care to thousands of patients across New York State. Through our growing network of physician practices, outpatient clinics, and strategic hospital affiliations, we deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care close to home.
Today, the Roswell Park Care Network is a multi-specialty organization offering services in oncology and hematology, urology, breast health, ENT (ears, nose, and throat), dermatology, and respiratory care. Over the past three years, we've expanded to more than 10 locations and established six affiliated partnerships, supported by a team of 30 physicians, 25+ advanced practice providers, and a mission-driven workforce of 260 employees.
As a private corporation, the Roswell Park Care Network operates independently while proudly collaborating with Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center on clinical services, patient care coordination, and key administrative and financial initiatives. Together, we are committed to delivering exceptional, accessible care across the region.
BRIEF SUMMARY of RESPONSIBILITIES
The Chief Operations Officer (COO) of the Roswell Park Care Network (RPCN) is responsible for leading all aspects of operations across the network to ensure the efficient, high-quality, and consistent delivery of oncology and multi-specialty care in collaboration with community and hospital partners. This role oversees clinical operations, compliance, revenue cycle, human resources, information technology, business development, acquisitions, and legal matters, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and the diverse needs of the communities served.
The COO works in close partnership with administrative leaders at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and local practice leaders to support the coordination of care and integration of diagnostic and supportive services across the network, fostering a seamless and high-quality patient experience. The COO reports to the President and CEO of RPCI Oncology PC.
Financial stewardship is a key responsibility, including collaboration with Roswell Park's Fiscal Administration to optimize performance drivers such as business planning, accounts payable and receivable, and the full spectrum of revenue cycle functions.
Serving as a strategic advisor, the COO provides operational leadership and consultation to internal stakeholders, affiliate partners, and physician leaders to promote best practices in community-based oncology and specialty care delivery.
Additionally, the COO plays a critical role in physician engagement and alignment, the growth of practice-based supportive services, development of external partnerships, and the integration of clinical research across community settings.

Strategic Leadership & Network Oversight
- Leads overall operations of the Roswell Park Care Network (RPCI Oncology, PC), ensuring alignment with organizational goals and the delivery of high-quality, community-based care.
- Oversees strategic growth initiatives, including new practice acquisitions, service line expansions, and partnerships.
- Directs due diligence and integration efforts for all new acquisitions and affiliations.
- Develops, presents, and executes business plans in collaboration with Roswell Park's Business Development, Fiscal Administration, and physician leadership.
- Serves as a key advisor to the CEO and senior leadership team on matters impacting clinical operations and business performance.
Physician Engagement & Contracting
- Oversees all physician recruitment activities for both community-based practices and affiliate sites.
- Develops, negotiates, and executes new physician contracts and contract renewals in collaboration with legal, ensuring alignment with financial and organizational standards.
- Monitors physician productivity benchmarks and compensation structures; reviews and approves quarterly productivity reports and associated payments.
Financial Leadership & Operational Management
- Provides strategic financial direction, including the development and implementation of financial plans that support short- and long-term organizational growth.
- Leads all fiscal operations including budgeting, forecasting, revenue cycle management, accounting, financial reporting, and vendor contract oversight.
- Oversees the monthly close process, annual budget planning, quarterly forecasting, and financial audit activities.
- Monitors performance against budget and provides detailed variance analysis with corrective action plans as needed.
Revenue Cycle & Business Operations
- Oversees all aspects of revenue cycle operations, payer contract negotiations, accounts payable and receivable, purchasing, and inventory control (including pharmaceuticals and medical supplies).
- Oversees administration of professional, master, and administrative service agreements across the network.
- Coordinates and evaluates the performance of administrative functions such as IT, facilities, and third-party vendor management.
Quality, Compliance & Patient Experience
- Provides oversight of quality improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, and adherence to legal standards.
- Monitors patient experience metrics and leads efforts to improve service delivery based on patient feedback.
- Supports the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and operational best practices to ensure consistency across all care sites.
Leadership Development & Talent Management
- Provides leadership, education, and mentorship to staff at all levels; ensures access to training and professional development opportunities.
- Evaluates staff performance against established benchmarks; fosters a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Promotes performance improvement philosophy throughout the organization.
Collaboration & Communication
- Acts as a primary liaison with affiliate practices and community partners on clinical and administrative matters, in coordination with the Roswell Park Business Development team.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with physician and administrative leaders across community and affiliated practices.
- Prepares and delivers regular reports, presentations, and updates for internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Doctoral Degree and three years senior level experience OR Masters Degree with 8-10 years of senior level experience OR Bachelors degree with 13-15 years of senior level experience.
- Combination of education and experience and training that demonstrates the ability of the individual can perform executive level duties.
- Healthcare practice, acquisition experience preferred.
- Strong Physician relationships.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
- Broad and deep knowledge of operations and the trends and forces facing healthcare.
