We are looking for a Director of Revenue Accounting to join our Finance leadership team based in our San Diego, California headquarters. This role will report to the Senior Director of Accounting - Assistant Controller and lead all aspects of Revenue

Meet the team:
We are looking for a Director of Revenue Accounting to join our Finance leadership team based in our San Diego, California headquarters. This role will report to the Senior Director of Accounting - Assistant Controller and lead all aspects of Revenue Accounting

Where you come in:
  • Lead the revenue accounting function to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP rules governing revenue accounting, ASC 606 Revenue Recognition from contracts with Customers
  • Responsible for global revenue recognition policies, processes, and procedures
  • Responsible for the oversight, accuracy and completeness of our rebate accrual, especially our retail rebates in north America.
  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue accounting close process, thereby ensuring the accuracy of financial statements
  • Oversee maintenance and reconciliation of revenue general ledger accounts
  • Partner with Dexcom's Sales Operations and FP&A teams to provide accounting and analytical assistance to drive operational excellence
  • Lead the preparation of monthly reporting packages for management review.
  • Oversee the continuous development, implementation and maintenance of systems, procedures and policies around revenue recognition, including ensuring adherence to company guidelines and proper internal controls for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
  • Review quarterly revenue disclosures in Dexcom's financial statements
  • Additional duties as assigned


What makes you successful:
  • Ability to demonstrate a high degree of mental effort - nearly all duties performed under tight deadlines and under the scrutiny of corporate stakeholders
  • Ability to plan, manage, and complete regular and special projects associated with general ledger and account reconciliation responsibilities. Must be able to analyze accounting processes, procedures and controls and suggest and implement improvements.
  • Ability to construct financial & other reporting models to assess and report performance. Create ROI proposition on special projects and as requested.
  • Excellent communication skills in dealing with internal contacts and outside third parties. Must have a customer service attitude that builds and enhances positive relationships with the organization and payers.
  • Oracle EBS Revenue Channel Management experience required as is advanced Excel skills.
  • CPA & prior SOX experience required
  • Expert in ASC 606, preferably applied within the medical device industry, with strong experience dealing with rebates, and other contra revenue adjustments like chargebacks, prompt pay discount, etc
  • Deep knowledge of retail gross-to-net adjustment
  • Extensive Tableau experience including building custom reports and dashbords
  • Experience leading a public company's revenue accounting function required
  • Experience working with generally accepted accounting principles, Sarbanes-Oxley, and accounting software supporting revenue recognition processes
  • Must be highly organized and detailed oriented to balance and prioritize workload
  • Strong personal computer and business solutions software skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting accountants, internal clients, and upper management
  • Good communication skills for communicating with support personnel and management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good presentation skills for educating internal clients on accounting principles

  • 5-15%


Experience and Education Requirements:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree with 15+ years of industry experience 9+ years of successful management experience in relevant industry

$156,400.00 - $260,600.00
