Description:
Schedule is Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
Weeknight, weekend, and holiday call is divided among current techs.
This is a Level IV Trauma Center with a Level III NICU.
The facility has a total of 228 beds.
There are 14 General Information Beds.
First-time travelers are welcome with 3+ years of OR experience.
The average number of cases per day is 20-23.
The team works across all specialties.
Top three patient types are Orthopedic, Gynecologic, and General.
Common general cases include cholecystectomy and appendectomy.
Bariatric surgeries include robotic and laparoscopic procedures.
Approximately 35% of cases are orthopedic, including total joints and sports medicine.
Plastic surgeries include breast reconstruction and biopsies.
Urological procedures include TURPs, cystoscopy, and aquablation.
Gynecologic surgeries performed include total hysterectomies and hysteroscopies.
Experience with the Davinci XI robotic system is required.
Support on the unit includes anesthesia monitors and a charge nurse.
The charge nurse does not have patient assignments during the first shift.
Occasional patient assignments may occur at the end of the second shift.
Leadership takes patient assignments as needed.
Required charting system is EPIC, which is mandatory.
Equipment includes Alaris, Pyxis, Stat- Hemochron, and GE C-Arm.
Staff is not responsible for running the C-Arm, only for setup.
In terms of unit support, if there is low census, there may be floating to inpatient tasks or sitters.
Orientation lasts 3-5 days, with the first day involving meeting with management and an educator.
The remainder of the orientation involves working with a preceptor on the unit.
Scheduling is typically Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
Weekend rotation includes on-call duties based on needs.
Requests for time off can be approved for up to 7 days.
Additional days require emailing management.
Holiday expectations are for one holiday per year.
Scrub colors are provided.
