JOB SUMMARY
The HR Data & Business Solutions Coordinator I - Transportation provides critical analytical and operational support to the district's transportation workforce through the management and reporting of employee-related data. In alignment with HISD's commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement, this position ensures data accuracy, streamlines HR processes, and supports cross-functional collaboration to enhance decision-making and workforce efficiency. By maintaining high standards of data integrity and responsiveness, the coordinator helps enable safe and reliable student transportation while supporting the overall effectiveness of transportation operations.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Process, analyze, and report on transportation-related data from multiple sources to inform department strategy and ensure operational efficiency.
2. Develop, maintain, and update data systems and dashboards for monthly, quarterly, and annual transportation reporting.
3. Coordinate internal and external research and data requests tied to transportation staffing, logistics, and performance metrics.
4. Provide administrative support to transportation leadership and staff, including scheduling, calendar management, and travel coordination.
5. Facilitate clear communication among internal departments and with external partners to ensure seamless transportation services.
6. Maintain accurate and secure documentation, databases, and records related to compliance, staffing, and service performance.
7. Organize and support transportation events, workshops, and meetings, managing logistics and preparing necessary materials.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED
8. Prepare meeting agendas, record minutes, and ensure timely distribution of materials for all relevant stakeholders.
9. Compile and analyze staffing and service data to support presentations, departmental reporting, and internal communications.
10. Support the implementation and tracking of transportation programs and initiatives, ensuring alignment with HISD policies and progress monitoring.
11. Assist in the coordination of department-specific projects, including managing timelines, assigning tasks, and ensuring deliverables are met.
12. Respond promptly and professionally to internal and external inquiries about transportation policies and services.
13. Coordinate the administration and collection of transportation-related surveys, evaluations, and feedback tools.
14. Perform essential office functions such as inventory control, supply ordering, and equipment maintenance to support department operations.
15. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Business, Public Administration, Management or related field preferred.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Managing many work objectives through the management of direct reports. Provides day-to-day directions for staff; they may become directly involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems. Responsible for assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring application of policies and procedures. Receives assignments in the form of objectives, with goals and the process by which to meet goals. Provides input for hiring performance and budget.

Interactions are typically with customers and Top Management.

Leads others in the resolution of highly sensitive and confidential issues on behalf of the department. Acts as a trusted advisor and becomes involved in the customer's decision-making process including presenting alternatives and information and applying persuasion and negotiation skills in the resolution of problems. Monitors customer service standards.
