Job Summary:
We are seeking a PD&P Layout Designer for the Mining & Metals team, based in Vancouver - Canada, reporting to the M&M Engineering Manager.
This position is a full-time role whose essential duties include performing 3D modeling of piping and equipment in a 3D model environment and preparation of drawings/documents for General Arrangements and piping isometrics drawings.
Fully experienced in use of 3D modelling software (SP3D, E3D, PDS etc). able to monitor, coordinate with other engineering disciplines, and check work for compliance with approved design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy.
Also maintains contacts, as directed, with client representatives, suppliers, appropriate field personnel and other disciplines. #LI-NP1

Job Summary:

Major Responsibilities:
- Essential duties include performing 3D modeling of piping and equipment in a 3D model environment. Preferably SP3D.
- Preparation of drawings/documents for General Arrangements and piping isometrics drawings.
- Support with planning and scheduling and prepare/maintain design procedures, standards to provide quality design documents as directed.
- Assist with coordination of 3D model activities, i.e., input, interference reconciliation, etc. with other physical related disciplines.
- Monitors all work for compliance to project standards, applicable codes, contract requirements, quality standards, discipline standards, and accepted engineering and construction practices.
- Plans and schedules all discipline related deliverables in accordance with contract and internal schedule dates.
- Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews engineering work:
- Evaluate and optimize plant designs, in order to maximize efficiency, safety and operational performance.
- Implement and enforce best practices for safety protocols, risk assessment and hazard identification within the team.
- Willingness to be flexible and capable to support Multiple Tasks
- Create and maintain project schedules, budgets and resource allocation, in order to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of projects.
What We Need from You:
We expect from the successful candidate of the PD&P Designer position to be a person looking for Challenges in a growing business and have the following knowledge and/or experience:
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Grade 27: AA/AS/Certification with 11 years of related design experience; or in lieu of degree, 15 years related design experience.
- Hands-on experience using a 3D piping/layout design platform
- Experience using a 3D design platform & Drawing/Isometric extraction software.
- More forward facing and willingness to engage with customers.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field.
- At least 15 - 20 years, in practical Mining & Metals engineering Plant Design.
- Strong Background in Copper and Gold Plants
- Familiarity in the Mining Industry
- In leading and guiding a team effectively, with an emphasis on continuous improvement, team building and the ability to cope with conflicting deadlines and competing priorities.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Hands-on experience using a 3D piping/layout design platform and experience using a 2D drawing extraction software.
- Extensive knowledge & application of ASME B31.1 and/or B31.3 codes.
- Excellent English, preferred as first language skills
- Verbal and written communication.
