This entrepreneurial academic leader will launch a new hybrid degree program that combines the best of online learning with in-person career-focused experiences to create an innovative approach to cybersecurity education. The program will be developed through an innovative partnership between NuHarbor Security and Champlain College.

The initiative will begin with Vermont-based program pilots and build on successes to expand to other regions, with the aspiration to create a national cybersecurity workforce through programs that are affordable, accessible, and offer valuable career experiences. This entrepreneurial initiative will grow and evolve based on student and employer demand.

This position reports to the Chief Learning Officer at Champlain College Online with a dotted line to the President of Champlain College. The Director will jointly manage partnership goals with NuHarbor's Director of Learning & Development and maintain deep relationships across the NuHarbor team.

The Faculty Director will have teaching responsibilities and manage adjunct faculty for the program, offering a unique opportunity to both teach cutting-edge cybersecurity concepts and directly engage with industry partners to shape curriculum that addresses real-world challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Development & Academic Leadership

  • Develop, design, and launch new hybrid cybersecurity certificate and degree programs in partnership with NuHarbor Security and the Leahy Center for Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics
  • Oversee academic quality, including program design, regular program reviews, outcome assessments, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Teach up to twelve (12) credits of hybrid cybersecurity courses during Fall, Spring, and Summer terms
  • Manage adjunct faculty, including recruitment, scheduling, and performance evaluations

Strategic Growth & Innovation

  • Serve as business owner for cybersecurity hybrid programs with responsibility for strategic expansion
  • Monitor innovation trends in K12 and higher education to keep programs cutting-edge
  • Manage projects and unique program requirements across multiple stakeholders
  • Evangelize the hybrid programs at recruitment events and develop strategic promotions

Partnership Management & Student Success

  • Serve as lead liaison with NuHarbor Security, including development of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
  • Build relationships with potential industry and academic partners
  • Drive student recruitment initiatives and measure program outcomes
  • Create and refine the hybrid learning model based on student and employer feedback

Operational Management

  • Take responsibility for program operations, budgeting, and financial health
  • Manage communication and data dashboards to inform decision-making
  • Ensure program alignment with industry needs and academic standards
  • Optimize program design based on pilot feedback for continuous improvement


Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Eight (8) years of combined experience in higher education/corporate training and cybersecurity
  • Undergraduate or graduate teaching experience in an online classroom using a learning management system
  • Experience developing academic curricula in higher education and/or corporate training programs
  • Experience conducting training/curriculum needs assessments
  • Demonstrated ability to support diverse student populations
  • Must be a citizen of the United States and eligible for security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field
  • Two (2) years of experience managing business-education partnership.
  • Demonstrated ability to set strategy, build, grow, and manage academic programs
  • Strong capabilities in interpersonal savvy, accountability, ambiguity management, and collaboration
  • Experience with learning management systems and educational technologies


Additional Information:

Work Arrangement:

  • Full-time (37.5 hours/week) position with primary office at Champlain College in Burlington, VT and regular presence at NuHarbor Security in Burlington, VT or Colchester, VT
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate program and teaching needs
  • Teaching responsibilities in both online and in-person formats
  • As programs expand in the future, travel of up to 50% may be required
