Job Overview:

Cogent People Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to support mission-critical healthcare initiatives through advanced data analysis, reporting, and system optimization. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in PL/SQL, healthcare data, and visualization tools, and will play a key role in driving data-informed decisions across enterprise-level projects.

This is a full-time position supporting Cogent People's initiatives in the Healthcare domain.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth data analysis using PL/SQL in SQL Developer, ensuring data accuracy, reliability, and integrity.
  • Design, develop, and execute reports, visualizations, and ad hoc queries to meet evolving business needs.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, stakeholders, and end users to gather data requirements and deliver clear, actionable insights.
  • Leverage Amazon Workspaces to access infrastructure and perform development tasks efficiently.
  • Manage and maintain code in GitLab, adhering to established version control and documentation standards.
  • Perform unit, integration, regression, and acceptance testing on both personal and peer-developed PL/SQL code to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Evaluate business processes, system architecture, and data workflows to identify and implement optimization opportunities.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced data analysts, promoting consistency and adherence to best practices.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of hands-on data analysis experience within healthcare environments, with a strong focus on data integrity and quality.
  • Expert in handling large and complex datasets, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
  • Advanced proficiency in PL/SQL, SQL Developer, and data modeling techniques for robust data analysis and reporting.
  • Extensive experience with reporting and data visualization tools such as AWS QuickSight, Cognos, Tableau, and Power BI.
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation, reporting, and automation.
  • Working knowledge of data analysis using Python, R, or similar programming tools.
  • Strong background in extracting and transforming data from both primary and secondary sources.
  • Proficient in using GitLab for version control and collaborative development.
  • Familiar with Amazon Workspaces and cloud-based development environments.
  • Proven experience working within Agile development methodologies and collaborating across cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated track record of ensuring high standards of data quality, reliability, and governance.
  • Solid understanding of data governance frameworks and healthcare-specific data security protocols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and dependable, with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to team goals.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality and accurate work.
  • Proven ability to manage time and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with healthcare data systems, including claims processing and healthcare exchange platforms.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts, including OLAP cubes, report templates, and ETL processes (e.g. Spark, DataBricks).
  • Previous experience mentoring or supervising data analysts, promoting best practices and consistency.
  • Experience working on government healthcare programs or within highly regulated environments.
