Job Overview
The Senior Manager, Individual Giving is focused on maximizing individual giving through direct donor meetings, relationship-building, prospect research, and gift solicitation.
The Senior Manager, Individual Giving reports directly to the VP, Philanthropy and will work collaboratively with the Philanthropy team on strategic, multi-year fundraising plans to grow the contributed revenue of FLC.
They will work with the Donor Engagement team, conduct research, identify donor prospects, cultivate, and steward potential donors. They will solicit individual gifts as part of the major gift pipeline. This will entail drafting, developing, and writing proposals for individual gifts. The Senior Manager also will assist in achieving fundraising goals wherever individual giving intersects with galas, events, special initiatives, capital and other campaigns. Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Research and Cultivation:
- Partner with Donor Engagement team to identify prospective donors for fundraising initiatives within our Membership
- Research to find new, qualified donor prospects outside of FLC Membership to expand donor pipeline.
- Conduct wealth screening/background on prospects and to understand donors' histories and preferences with respect to giving.
- Provide support to the VP of Philanthropy in regards to prospect research, strategy, and deliverables creation.
Campaigns and initiatives:
- Acquire in depth knowledge of Film at Lincoln Center programs and mission in order to effectively detailed donor strategies.
- Meet with donors and solicit contributions for FLC campaigns and initiatives (Capital Campaigns, NYFF Campaign, Gala, Dinner Series, End of Year Campaign, other fundraising events and initiatives) to meet goals for each campaign.
- Orchestrate all stages of the major gift process, including qualification, cultivation, solicitation stewardship, and reporting
- Generate customized materials including correspondence, cover letters, proposals, and other collateral and proposals for donors to support asks including for capital campaigns.
- Coordinate key donor visits with executive and senior staff in addition to personally visiting donors.
- In conjunction with the VP, Philanthropy, develop materials in support of and fundraise for new capital and endowment campaigns.
Administration:
- Keep a record of research, conversations, and presentations to donors in Tessitura.
- Cultivate and steward long-term relationships with current and prospective donors in collaboration with the Donor Engagement team.
- Support Philanthropy department in its event-related responsibilities, including: Annual Chaplin Award Gala, New York Film Festival, and other donor cultivation and stewardship events, such as series/festival receptions and dinners, etc.
- Track performance of initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
- 5+ years of successful experience cultivating, stewarding, and soliciting individual donors.
- Proven track record of maintaining and growing major giving revenue through in-person meetings and cultivation.
- Systems-oriented leader with well-honed fundraising operations and management skills.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; experience creating proposals for potential donors.
- Passion for the mission of Film at Lincoln Center.
- Familiarity with Google suite, development database, preferably Tessitura, and email software systems, preferably Wordfly.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Must be able to work nights and weekends.
