ABOUT OUR OPERATION

The Support and Development Center provide services to Agnico Eagle's various Canadian and / or international mining operations in a variety of areas, including administration, financial services, IT, supply chain, human resources, communications, construction as well as technical services (geology, engineering, metallurgy, infrastructure, marketing, innovation, and digital transformation).

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Metallurgy and R&D Advisor, you will be part of the Innovation department. Your main role, as a mineralogist, is to bring your expertise and support to projects aimed at implementing initiatives in the characterization and extraction of all value in gold ores. These initiatives are part of an innovation program in partnership with universities. You will contribute to the characterization of materials involved in the projects as well as the use of mineralogical information for the interpretation and improvement of ore processing performance. You will review and write reports on specific characterization activities, supervise students, and coordinate the characterization activities of study materials with partners. Additionally, you will provide technical advice and training to Agnico Eagle teams who need it in the implementation of ore valorization processes and the optimization of the value chain of existing mines. This is a strategic position for Agnico Eagle, which must be filled by a person with the appropriate level of experience and expertise and the ability to work collaboratively and independently.

Specifically, the main tasks and responsibilities can be summarized as follows:

  • Identify and support protocols and techniques for the characterization of study materials in projects
  • Review project plans, write progress reports and follow-up reports on characterization activities
  • Ensure specific communication on mineralogical work and links with partners involved in characterizations
  • Identify and select samples and groups of samples required for characterization, testing, and studies in collaboration with project sites and partners
  • Participate in the monitoring and control of sampling campaigns in the plant
  • Review characterization programs in relation to metallurgical tests and required performance or valorization targets (mineralogy, crushing and grinding, gravity, flotation, cyanidation, water treatment, etc.), adapted to the needs and circumstances of evaluated or support projects
  • Monitor and review the analysis of results with project partners
  • Support literature research for the improvement of technical knowledge and industrial practices to optimize developed research work and the development of processes adapted to the reality of evaluated projects or support projects for existing divisions
  • Coordinate and review mandates for ore characterization and valorization
  • Integrate innovative technologies into ore characterization
  • Ensure required representation at technical conferences and main industry working groups, if applicable
  • Develop solutions that create value and enable better decision-making, as a professional expert guided by the Metallurgy and R&D Advisor and the Innovation Director for a strategic understanding of business
  • Assist the Metallurgy and R&D Advisor in other tasks, if applicable


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Master's or PhD in a field related to geology, mineralogy, gold ore processing, or physical pre-concentration
  • 1-5 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in French as the work will be done in collaboration with Agnico Eagle sites where the main language is French
  • Ability to communicate in English and/or Spanish is an asset
  • Knowledge and experience in mineralogical characterization, core digitization, gold ore processing or physical pre-concentration, as well as environmental behaviors
  • Great ability to integrate into existing teams and work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
  • Ability to manage innovative projects and work with scientific and academic communities
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including proven ability to prepare and present presentations and write reports
  • Good judgment and great ability to manage complex situations


Your Work Schedule

  • Schedule: 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday. Possibility of 5-2-4-3 schedule
  • Workplace: Possibility to work in one of AEM's offices closer to your residence in Rouyn-Noranda, Preissac, Val-d'Or, Mirabel or Toronto. There is a possibility to have a hybrid work schedule, working some days from an AEM office and some days in telecommuting.
