Job Description
Primary Function of Position:
The Vice President of Engineering will lead the engineering team responsible for the development and expansion of our Singleport robotic surgical platform. This role requires extensive experience in international expansion of product portfolios, managing the full product lifecycle, and scaling operations to support growth. This key management role is focused on developing novel surgical approaches to surgery, while improving product reliability, manufacturability, and cost. The ideal candidate will also have a strong background in adjacent procedure expansion and enabling commercial readiness while providing leadership and technical mentoring across interdepartmental boundaries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the Singleport engineering team, ensuring the successful development, integration, and expansion of Singleport robotic medical devices.
- Develop and execute strategic plans for international expansion of the Singleport product portfolio into new markets.
- Maintain technical responsibility through full product lifecycle, including prototype development, design, sustaining engineering, and end-of-life processes.
- Drive adjacent procedure expansion by leveraging proven clinical strategies to broaden the application of Singleport technologies.
- Ensure commercial readiness by collaborating with cross-functional teams, including R&D, product management, regulatory, and clinical teams.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the engineering team.
- Remain up to date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to medical devices and Singleport systems.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and other professional events.
- Continuously improve product quality levels, with an emphasis on product safety, efficacy and reliability.
- Manage resources among competing project priorities.
- Work with the Regulatory Submissions and Compliance departments to support new product submissions and to meet all regulatory compliance requirements.
- Must possess strong communication skills to interface with company executives, scientists, other product development teams, planning, purchasing, regulatory, inspection, customer support and clinical marketing organizations.
- Manage, coach and mentor managers and directors to succeed in efficient product design.
- Core Competencies and Skill Requirements:
- MS degree in an engineering discipline, PhD degree desirable (i.e. EE, ME, MBA).
- 15+ years of experience in design engineering.
- 8+ years as a manager of technical personnel in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in Medical Device design and associated regulatory requirements (FDA CFRs, ISO, IEC, etc.)
- Familiarity in robotics, tissue stapling, vessel sealing, and computer controlled small mechanisms is highly desired.
- Proven experience and track record regarding product development and project management of complex systems
- Proven ability to drive innovation and deliver high-quality products on time and within budget
- Strong technical analytical skills including design analysis, FMEAs and CAD, and Software Development
- Excellent communication skills a must
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse group of technical professionals
