The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Tulane University School of Medicine is seeking a full-time faculty position on the clinical track, assistant professor rank, to serve as a Forensic Psychiatrist at the Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System and other forensic facilities serviced by the Department. This position will be responsible for providing forensic psychiatric care and treatment. Teaching responsibilities include the supervision of residents, forensic fellows, and medical students, along with participating in fellow, resident, and medical student education activities in the department. The selected candidate will be expected to contribute to our educational program by participating and presenting at psychiatry grand rounds, continuing education conferences as appropriate, and psychiatry didactic series in medical student education. As a faculty member of the Tulane University School of Medicine, candidates are expected to participate in fellow, resident and medical student education activities in the department including departmental initiatives. Candidates will be expected to participate in the annual fellow interview process, as well as the subsequent ranking of applicants, while providing both verbal and written assessments. Candidates will be expected to mentor both residents and students and stimulate them to participate in mentored research projects and other scholarly activity.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must be board certified/eligible in general psychiatry, must have successfully completed an accredited forensic psychiatry fellowship program, and must be licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana by start date of appointment.
