The Vice President of Enterprise Operations is a visionary executive providing strong leadership and strategic guidance to the Centra Health. This leader will spearhead integrated implementation of operational excellence in key service areas that constitute core functions of the enterprise on behalf of patients served in our service area and beyond. The leader will participate in and drive implementation of key strategic initiatives to transform Centra's operations to be contemporary, state-of-the-art, and forward-looking.
This Vice President, Enterprise Operations is the health system expert responsible for planning, organizing, and directing operations at all hospital campuses. The leader partners directly with Pharmacy, Lab, Imaging, and Support Services and leads these key areas to operational excellence by engaging and growing and developing the responsible senior directors, supporting day-to-day operations, integrating their work with organizational efforts to enhance high reliability, quality, safety, flow, fiduciary excellence, and human experience, and developing strategy consistent with a deep understanding of the dynamic healthcare environment.
The Vice President, Enterprise Operations works closely with enterprise executives and service line leadership to execute Centra's operational and strategic vision. Specifically, a close working relationship is fostered with hospital entity presidents, entity leadership teams, regulatory team, and the legal and compliance team. The leader works closely with and supports nursing operations in a matrixed relationship. The leader earns trust and respect by working as a collaborative and synergistic resource and displaying a caring and courteous attitude, representing Centra Health in a positive manner. The leader communicates and models the mission and values of Centra. The leader is an outstanding collaborator and displays exceptional communication skills.

The Vice President, Enterprise Operations is a senior healthcare executive with a record of performance and performance improvement and the following characteristics:
Demonstrated effectiveness as a leader, trainer, mentor and coach
Broad knowledge/experience in Pharmacy, Lab, Imaging, and Support Services
Detailed understanding of hospital operations
Successful record in communication, negotiation, and dialogue
Experience in hospital financial administration and revenue cycle management
Knowledge of legal and compliance issues related to healthcare systems, including fraud and abuse
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with the medical and administrative staff, patients and the public
Skill in planning, organizing, and prioritizing work while effectively delegating to achieve goals and objectives
Complexity-fit, able to work with uncertainty and be successful in ambiguity inherent in the healthcare environment
Description/Job Duties:
Operations Management:
Serve as Executive leader for Enterprise Hospital Operations
Oversee, operationalize, interpret, and recommend changes to operational policies and procedures
Oversee regulatory, fiduciary, quality, and safety activities (matrixed)
Develop improvement strategies by evaluating trends and established measures
Optimize productivity
Ensure implementation of standard best practice
Work within models to support both fee-for-service and value-based care initiatives
Ensure execution of strategic system value-based care initiatives (partnership with Chief Physician Executive and Chief Operating Officer)
Participate in development of strategic plans, governance structure, and strategic objectives for hospitals
Develop and implement organization/division business and strategic plans (partnership with Chief Physician Executive and Chief Operating Officer)
Support quality initiatives
Develop and recommend support structure needs for hospital campuses and enhance operational effectiveness across all hospitals
Implement major organizational goals/initiatives/objectives for Centra Health
Work collaboratively to achieve metric goals established by the organization
Attend and present at hospital leadership meetings
Ensure compliance with best practice, policy and compliance standards with applicable laws and regulations as well as all policies and procedures set by the Board of Directors and Centra's Executive Leadership team
Engage to resolve or escalate conflict
Financial Management:
Drive financial performance through operations leaders in partnership with other service line leaders
Partner with local Revenue Cycle team to hold hospitals accountable accuracy and timeliness of charge entry, demographic entry, receipt entry, managed care referrals, and other billing and insurance functions
Personnel:
Serves as a mentor for staff and leadership team
Hold Caregivers accountable to a patient-centered culture and ensure associates are living and working out our Mission and Values
Participate in the recruitment and retention of hospital operational leadership
Facilitate the performance evaluation process for direct reports.
Work with senior leadership, hospital presidents, Human Resources (and legal where necessary) regarding disciplinary matters and obtain assistance from Human Resources, as appropriate, for disciplinary proceedings
Partner with management and Human Resources to continuously improve engagement
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Eight or more years of experience with a demonstrated record of increasing responsibility
Master's in Health Care Administration (MHA) or Master's in Business Administration (MBA)
Licensure, Certification and Registration
Board Certification ACHE preferred but not required
