Director, Tech Lead (The Prudential Insurance Company of America, Newark, NJ):
Develops the FAST administrative platform by providing technical leadership on a Scrum team and coordinates with other tech leaders across teams. Develops APIs, services, and file feed components to and from an administrative platform. Leverages DevOps and source management and corresponding strategies around deployment and branching techniques. Design solutions leveraging service-oriented architecture (SOA), microservices, multi-threading, concurrency, and parallel processing. Drive code quality through development of automated tests and test-driven development. Develops web service solutions for integration between admin system and other Prudential systems. Develops across distributed systems leveraging object-oriented programming, design patterns, and design methodology. Research significant issues as needed, leveraging monitoring and logging tools. Oversees deployment of API endpoints through API gateways. Performs hiring and performance management of associates as required. Provides technical leadership to scrum teams outside immediate reporting relationships as needed.
100% telecommuting permitted from anywhere in the U.S.
Domestic travel required up to 2%.
Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, and 6 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate related work experience.

- API and Service experience using REST, JSON or SOAP;
- Using Service frameworks, including Spring Boot, Spring CLI or Node.JS;
- Using distributed systems, object-oriented programming, design patterns and design methodology to build enterprise grade insurance systems; and
- Using development leveraging databases, including MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, DB2 or Elastic Search.
Of the required experience, must have at least 3 years of experience in each of the following:
- Working with agile scrum development methodologies and Test-Driven Development;
- Leading and mentoring junior software engineers;
- Implementing service-oriented architecture (SOA) patterns;
- SOAP UI or Advanced REST Client;
- Netbeans, Eclipse, or Visual Studio; and
- Working experience with Life or Annuities insurance products.
Of the required experience, must have at least 1 year of experience in each of the following:
- Branching techniques and usage of Github, Bitbucket, or Subversion; and
- Using AWS, ECS, EC2 instances, and AWS Services, including CloudWatch and Code Deploy, as a development platform.
