Responsibilities

You Will. . .
  • Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor a team of database engineers responsible for database architecture, delivery, and operations.
    • Foster relationship building and communications both internally and with other outside teammates.
    • Support growth and ensure accountabilities for all including yourself.
  • Strategy and Architecture:
    • Develop and maintain a roadmap to support the business initiatives which ensures reliability, scalability and security.
    • Partner with other teams to drive alignment and solutions
    • Establish and enforce best practices and standards for database development, deployment, and operations for on prem and cloud databases
    • Collaborate closely with enterprise architecture, infrastructure, and application development teams to deliver database solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
  • Delivery and Operations:
    • Support and enable advanced data analytics and reporting solutions while ensuring data integrity and regulatory compliance.
    • Oversee database modernization initiatives, including schema optimization, partitioning, data archival strategies, and possible migration planning.
    • Monitor and report on database KPIs, service availability, incident trends, and capacity usage to executive leadership.
    • Provide technical leadership on Microsoft SQL Server technologies (versions 2016 and beyond), including clustering, Always On Availability Groups, replication, and performance tuning.
    • Own and manage all aspects of database lifecycle management for the legacy CRM system, including backup strategies, disaster recovery planning, capacity management, and data governance.
    • Drive continuous improvement in database performance, reliability, and security across development, staging, and production environments.
    • Support Agile delivery and DevOps deployment and best practices
    • Lead Database SecOps and any security investigations as ncessary
  • Partner Management:
    • Manage partner relationships, software licensing, and third-party database tool integrations.
    • Hold partners accountable for SLAs
  • Budgets:
    • Manage budgets to include monthly/annual spend, allocations, cost savings and new costs.
    • Ability to use various allocation methods for business usage chargebacks.

Qualifications

The Experience You Will Bring (Minimum Requirements):
  • 10+ years of professional experience in database administration including SQL, Oracle, etc., with at least 5 years in leadership roles
  • Experience with implementing and supporting SaaS solutions and database footprints (i.e. MS Dynamics, Azure SQL, etc.)
  • Experience with Azure SQL
  • Proven experience managing enterprise-scale database environments supporting legacy business-critical applications
  • Deep expertise in SQL Server high availability, disaster recovery, replication, and performance tuning
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server security, auditing, and compliance best practices
  • Demonstrated success leading teams through complex projects and operational challenges
  • Foundational knowledge with infrastructure platforms (Server OSs, VMware, Storage systems) supporting large-scale deployments such as SQL server
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting platforms (e.g., Redgate, LogicMonitor)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and stakeholder management skills; ability to present complex technical information to senior executives
  • Leadership skills to support, coach and motivate team mates to success
  • Advanced certifications preferred (MCSE: Data Management and Analytics or equivalent)

Physical Demands / Working Environment:

  • Local candidate preferred. Candidate must reside or willing to self-relocate to the metro Atlanta area.
