Risk Assessment Manager - Rail & Transit

Job Summary

Urban is seeking an experienced Risk Assessment Manager to provideprofessional risk expertise with specific emphasis in conducting risk and contingency reviews as part of the oversight of FTA-funded major capital transit projects. Work will include reviewing risk management plans, risk registers, and supporting documentation, performing risk and contingency reviews for FTA-funded projects and serving as a technical resource and subject matter expert in risk assessments. The Risk Assessment Manager should have expert knowledge in performing Monte Carlo and other comparable simulations for cost and schedule risk analysis calculations.

The Risk Assessment Manager will work in our Rail and Transit Department. The candidate will assist project managers with planning, design and construction management for the passenger rail and transit business and lend support to the firm's facility and aviation markets. Candidates must be able to assist project management for various types of projects that may include stations, terminals, storage, industrial, and maintenance facilities. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to manage the firm's risk assessment activities while meeting project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for risk and contingency assessment and management of projects including managing the internal team, and sub-consultants, leading client communication, and monitoring project financials.
  • Collaborate with other professionals from various departments and discuss project risks and solutions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with our clients on risk assessment specific projects.
  • Manage internal and external project risks during the planning, design and construction phases.
  • Establish budgets forecasts, staffing estimates, and schedules on risk assessment projects.
  • Take the lead in establishing project risk parameters and developing the appropriate risk contingency plans.
  • Prepare project status reports for supervisors, senior and executive staff on a periodic basis.
  • Collaborate and develop capture, marketing and proposal plans for risk-oriented procurement opportunities.


Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture or a related field from an AAB accredited program.
  • Certification as a Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP or DRMP).
  • Expert knowledge in performing probability modeling using factoring and Monte Carlo simulation for risk analysis related to cost and schedule values.
  • Minimum of 12 years of overall experience working on risk assessments with 5 of the 12 years in passenger rail or related transportation modes and 6 of the 12 years of experience planning, designing, and implementing an overall risk management process for an organization.
  • Knowledge of project management procedures (PMI), financial management, CPM scheduling, cost control and forecasting, communications and document control.
  • Proficiency in the use of standard Microsoft Office products.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated track record of successful projects and building and maintaining successful client relationships.
  • Registration as Registered Professional Engineer, Architect (AIA) or Registered Architect (RA) in the United States is preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with FTA's Risk Assessment procedure and Excel Model is desired
