Job Description:
This is an opportunity to join HPE's world-class Global Communications team. With scores of communicators across the globe, we advocate for HPE's corporate strategy, business innovation, and thought leadership. We're looking for a Director of Enterprise Thought Leadership to strategically elevate HPE's presence and influence in the market.
How you'll make your mark:
The successful candidate for this role will drive thought leadership campaigns that resonate with HPE's target audiences. They will be responsible for convening and leading a center of excellence focused on setting the strategy for HPE's enterprise-level thought leadership campaigns, identifying storylines to elevate, selecting content partners, and amplifying corporate-level narrative topics.
The role, reporting to the VP, Corporate & Financial Communications, requires an enterprise-wide perspective developed from a deep understanding of technology trends and the HPE business. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in B2B communication or marketing, combined with exceptional leadership skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
In this role, you will:
As a member of the Global Communications team, you'll work in a close-knit group of talented colleagues supporting strategic communications and the implementation of 360-degree communications plans. The team you'll join is high performing and offers many opportunities that add to overall career development. You'll do well in this role if you are strategic, creative, and collaborative, and enjoy building successful new programs from the ground up.
You'll be expected to combine a strategic vision with hands-on execution in matching our most important narratives that address corporate-level and portfolio topics with the most influential venues and leadership forums. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to lead with an enterprise-wide perspective while ensuring productive collaboration with Global Marketing & Communications colleagues across our portfolio foundations in networking, hybrid cloud, and AI.
Responsibilities for this role include:
Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop a clear long-term thought leadership agenda that solidifies HPE's voice in the technology industry and business community at large. Foster innovation, set ambitious goals, and align with HPE's strategic objectives as you build an enterprise thought leadership program to enhance HPE's reputation with business and technology leaders. Lead with an enterprise-wide perspective, developed from a deep understanding of the overall business and complementary Global Marketing & Communications programming and campaigns.
Strategic Influence: Align and collaborate with teams across Global Marketing & Communications to position HPE as a thought leader and innovator among business influencers. Showcase HPE's expertise and the ways HPE advances the way people live and work
Trend Identification & Audience Mapping: Identify industry trends relevant to HPE and map target audiences. Analyze market insights that will shape and refine the thought leadership strategy.
Partnership Selection & Relationship Building: Connect with and evaluate potential external content and event partners that align with HPE's strategic objectives to build reputation with key audiences. Arrange and negotiate the parameters and amplification options of our news, editorial, and sponsored partnership engagements.
Speakers Bureau & Event Program Management: Place HPE speakers in venues where the company's point of view can be featured alongside other influential companies, from mainstage moments and roundtable conversations to curated experiences that bring the message to life and engage thought leaders in the room. Manage high-visibility events, securing executive participation in key industry platforms where business decision makers and influencers can be reached.
Content Creation & Publication: Survey existing content creation streams within HPE to collaboratively curate thought leadership content, spanning speaking opportunities, bespoke events, contributed bylines, and more. Oversee the creation of high-quality content that supports thought leadership initiatives. Adapt compelling messaging to ghost write blogs and earned bylines.
Amplification: Partnering closely with other Global Marketing & Communication teams, drive 360-degree strategies to amplify thought leadership content, speaking engagements, and event sponsorships across channels.
Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for thought leadership initiatives. Develop and maintain a strong understanding of key influencers within the thought leadership space.

We are looking for someone who has the following:
- Experience: 10+ years at B2B company, with at least 3-5 years in a senior leadership role, including demonstrated ability to build effective teams.
- Influence: Strong influencing skills, with the ability to drive consensus and action across diverse teams.
- Strategic Planning: Strong campaign planning skills, with the ability to execute complex initiatives.
- Corporate Narrative: Familiarity with creating compelling corporate narratives and creating integrated campaigns to bring them to various audiences.
- Relationship Building: A relationship builder who is used to frequently engaging externally and internally to share a well-developed perspective
- Writing: Superior written and verbal communication skills, including experience in ghostwriting and other content creation.
- Stakeholder-Centric: Skills to prioritize collaboration and deadline-driven project management that address stakeholder needs in strategic communication plans and programs.
- Executive Presence: Aptitude for mature executive presence, displaying comfort and confidence in providing communications counsel to all executive levels.
- Flexibility: Adaptive, flexible mindset to pivot and meet evolving business needs.
Qualifications:
- BA or BS in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Business, or related field; a Master's degree or professional certification is a plus
- 12+ years of experience in public relations, content marketing, brand management, event marketing, corporate communications, social/digital media, or a related field.
- Prior corporate work experience or large agency experience is highly preferred
- Preference for candidate based in the greater Houston, Texas area
