Job Highlights :
The Vice President of Operations will provide leadership by planning, directing, coordinating, providing, and improving ambulatory and ancillary services programs at UAB Callahan Eye. These services included by not limited to ambulatory clinics, laboratory, pharmacy, facility operations, and surgical services. This position serves as a key decision maker on the administrative team of the hospital and represents the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on committees and programs within the scope of the position's areas of focus. Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President of Operations will collaborate with multidisciplinary leaders to develop short term and long-term plan that promote continuous organizational growth. This individual will a be strong communicator with relationship centered interpersonal skills, detail oriented, and financial fluency. This individual will be nimble to change, while promoting exceptional patient safety and quality and encouraging a team-oriented culture.

Key Duties & Responsibilities :
Develops and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards.
Ensures compliance with system, hospital/facility policies and procedures, and governmental/accreditation regulations.
Actively participates with the UAB system medical staff and hospital leadership in the development of hospital wide strategic and operations plans, programs, policies/procedures, and performance standards.
Aligns goals, objectives, and action plan for assigned departments and programs with the overall system and hospital strategic and operational plans.
Monitors department/program performance in patient care, patient safety, patient/employee satisfaction, performance improvement, operational excellence, employee engagement, recruitment and retention, staff development, and interdepartmental relationships.
Develop budgets for assigned departments; monitors and adjust objectives to meet budget requirements.
Evaluates and reacts to shifting legal, regulatory/accrediting priorities, and ensures compliance.
Participates in the negotiation of contracts and track compliance and evaluate performance.
Demonstrates professional knowledge and advancement through continuing education and affiliations.
Serves as a liaison in the development of community partnerships and business development opportunities with UAB Medicine and the broader community at large. Attend meetings of professional, civic, and service organizations as a representative of UAB Callahan Eye.
Represents the entity in the absence of the CEO as requested. Serves as Executive lead or member on assigned committees and takes rotation as Administrator on-call.
Develops and cultivates medical staff relationships to explore new business growth opportunities.
Participates in the orientation of employees to the UAB Medicine and UAB Callahan Eye's mission, vison, and values.
Display commitment to teamwork through open honest communication and a unity of purpose.
Works in collaboration with the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Services, Medical Staff Office, appropriate leaders with ophthalmic and various surgical divisions around surgeon onboarding and clinical profile requirements for successful onboarding.
Directs and supervises subordinate management and leadership team members along with administrative support personnel. Interviews, hires, develop, counsels, and directs and discipline subordinate personnel in collaboration with Human Resources.
Maintains knowledge of current health related legislation developments in managerial theory and practices, improvements in health care delivery systems and other elated practices and systems.
Effectively responds to unique needs of patients as the need arise.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Degree Requirement: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Healthcare, Administration, or Business. Five to Seven (5-7) years' experience with a minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in acute care, specialty care, and/or ambulatory services management is required.
