Pharmacy Manager - Archbold Specialty Pharmacy
Position Description
Complies with the standards of pharmacy operations as outlined in department policies and procedures to dispense and monitor medications for inpatients and outpatients.
Utilizes pharmacy operation standards as outlined in policies and procedures pursuant to patient-specific services that affect patient outcomes, optimize drug therapy and minimize costs. Utilizes effective communication and positive interpersonal skills. Demonstrates competence on a consistent basis with regard to medication dispensing.
Demonstrates and differentiates drug therapy as appropriate for age groups of pediatrics (0-12), adolescents (13-17), adults (18-65), and geriatrics (65>) and completes other duties as assigned.
Demonstrates skills in decision-making.
Performs duties in an independent manner and demonstrates a desire to learn new tasks with little or no supervision.
Demonstrates effective supervisory skills and performs functions of management.
Assumes responsibility for own professional education and assists in providing education to patients and other healthcare professionals.
Pharmacy Manager Education Requirements:
A minimum of five years of college education or equivalent program leading to a BS in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree.
Must be a licensed, registered pharmacist by the Georgia Board of Pharmacy.
Pharmacy Manager Experience:
Minimum of five years in pharmacy practice as a pharmacist and supervisory experience of three years preferred.
Pharmacy Manager Required Skills:
Requires knowledge of the current approach to quality pharmacy care.
Requires positive interpersonal skills with the ability to contact and confer with physicians, administration (including nursing), patients, families, and allied health professionals concerning all aspects of pharmacy services.
Requires the ability to coordinate the daily operation of a pharmacy, including the development of policies and procedures
Requires the ability to train and evaluate all new employees (pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, interns, students, and volunteers).
Requires strong leadership skills, including the willingness to assume responsibility, the ability to delegate authority along with exhibiting good judgment and decision-making qualities.
Physical Demands:
Good physical and mental health; some lifting and reaching required.
It may require long periods of standing and sitting.
Able to work under supervision or act independently as required by assignments. Able to perform with accuracy in stressful situations.
