System Administrator

KAI Partners, Inc. (KAIP) is currently seeking a System Administrator who is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of internal and client IT systems. This includes managing servers, networks, Microsoft 365 services, and virtualization platforms. They ensure optimal system performance, security compliance, and minimal downtime through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and user support. Systems Administrators also contribute to automation efforts, documentation, and the implementation of IT best practices across cloud and on-premises environments.

Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain servers, workstations, and associated hardware/software.
  • Administer Windows Server and Linux systems, ensuring regular updates and patch management.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations across systems.
  • Maintain and administer Microsoft 365 applications, including Exchange, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Support virtualization environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Manage and support cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including VMs, storage, backups, and identity management.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure reliability and efficiency.
  • Implement, manage, and test backup and disaster recovery plans.
  • Apply system security measures in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Create and maintain system documentation, operational procedures, and technical support resources.
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing new technologies and system enhancements.
  • Manage software installations, updates, licensing, and renewals.
  • Respond to and resolve Tier 2 and Tier 3 support tickets and service requests.
  • Work with IT support staff and vendors to resolve hardware/software issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and training for end-users and junior IT staff.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment, software, and supplies.
  • Participate in IT audits and compliance initiatives.
  • Ensure SLAs are met and monitored using appropriate tools.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong experience administering Microsoft Windows and/or Linux-based systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, and system imaging tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Working knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 administration and troubleshooting.
  • Skilled in scripting for automation using PowerShell or similar tools.
  • Understanding security principles, firewall configurations, MFA, and endpoint protection.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Work/Education Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in systems administration or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, MCSA, etc.).

Compensation Range: $84,000 - $108,000

The salary range for this role may vary depending on the specific geographic location where this position is ultimately filled. Several factors, including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, and certifications, pay equity, and organizational needs, are considered when determining the posted salary range. In addition, eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
