Job Description

Primary Function of Position

As a global upstream product manager on the da Vinci Multiport team, you will become a key development and design stage collaborator for multiple projects and provide a clinical specialty (e.g., urology) perspective. This is an individual-contributor role and will report to a Sr. Group Product Manager.

You will work with cross-functional partners to identify needs; define and guide products through the development process; become a global portfolio professional helping to guide future portfolio recommendations; and work with the commercial downstream teams for product launches. Responsibilities include product business & strategic modeling, product user needs & requirements management, market research, customer interaction, forecasting, pricing, competitive-analysis, and commercialized products.

Essential Job Duties
  • Develop a deep knowledge of the surgical treatments for applicable indications, including monitoring and consuming clinical literature, attending medical society meetings, engaging with physician key opinion leaders (KOLs), and observing live robotic cases. Will require both domestic and international travel.
  • Capture, refine, and validate user needs with feedback from customers, the commercial team, and clinical development engineering. Establish design requirements, prioritize design efforts, navigate tradeoffs, and document and communicate design recommendations.
  • Assist in managing the Multiport product roadmap and lifecycle in alignment with the multiport portfolio targets. Develop business justification for recommendations and gain alignment across key partners on project prioritization.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative market research methods and direct customer interviews and observations to develop insights that inform product development and the product roadmap.
  • Collaboratively develop global product commercialization plans with global portfolio marketing, regional marketing, and commercial teams.
  • Work with the product engineering and business development teams to evaluate new technologies and prioritize the new business development pipeline.


Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience
  • Humble, mindful of other people's input, and able to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
  • Self-directed with awareness to proactively seek advice and develop professional skills.
  • Excellent synergy skills with proven ability to partner across multiple disciplines to ensure product success and ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority. This includes the ability to head in bridging communication between engineering, design, marketing, sales, and customers.
  • Presentation skills to internal and external audiences including people at the VP level. Proven PowerPoint or equivalent modality skillset.
  • Quantitative mindset, proven ability to investigate open-ended problems, break into first values investigation, and work cross-functionally to implement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cleverly amidst challenging priorities and smoothly manage multiple different deadlines and tasks.

Required Education and Training
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 5 years in a medical device role and 8 or more years cumulative professional experience in product management, marketing, engineering, business development, or equivalent role
