OBJECTIVE/SUMMARY:

The Accounting Manager oversees the day-to-day activities, month-end tasks, and workload of the General Accounting Department, ensuring financial reporting accuracy and compliance. They develop and maintain accounting policies, manage the accounting team, and provide financial analysis and advice to management. Key responsibilities include preparing financial statements, managing budgets, and overseeing audits as well as managing projects to continually enhance the close to report process.

RESPONSIBILITIES/GOALS:
  • Financial Statement Preparation analysis and reporting - managing the month end close and preparing and reviewing financial statements ensuring accuracy as well as adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulations.
  • Analyzing financial data and identifying & explaining trends.
  • Preparing internal/external financial package meeting reporting deadlines.
  • Audit management - lead internal and external audits, including the preparation of financial statements, footnote disclosure schedules, and audit support schedules
  • Internal controls - develop and implement internal controls, policies, and procedures focusing on safeguarding company assets and fostering a culture of integrity and honesty
  • Department management - manage general accounting function with focus on continually seeking out process improvement and best practice opportunities, including better use of systems, elimination of waste, enhanced use of technology, and refinement of close to report processes
  • Team management - set department performance and development objectives, ensure team acquires necessary skills in line with business and personal development needs, drive department objectives, and prepare staff annual performance reviews


QUALIFICATIONS AND APTITUDES REQUIRED:

Certifications and Other Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience managing an accounting department
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or master's degree strongly preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication skills in person and over the phone
  • Must have a valid driver's license

  • Effective, professional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information in a clear and concise manner

Physical Aptitudes
  • This is primarily a sedentary role.
  • Vision or correctible vision to 20/20.
  • The work environment includes the frequent use of stairs.
  • Ability to work in an office environment and follow HS&E safety protocols when walking through a maritime construction area.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, office phones, smartphones, and photocopiers.
