Description:

The Medicare Part D Stars Clinical Pharmacist leads the Pharmacy Department's quality improvement strategies and operations, working with cross-functional teams to continuously improve and maintain the Medicare Stars Program. The pharmacist will manage the clinical and administrative measures assigned by the Stars Team. Work assignments will involve moderately complex to complex issues, where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

The Medicare Part D Stars Clinical Pharmacist oversees vendors and manages clinical programs, working with the Medicare Pharmacy Manager to continuously implement strategies to support the Pharmacy Department Star Program goals. The pharmacist will work independently, and make decisions on moderately complex to complex issues, with limited direction. Performs other duties as assigned.

Hybrid work schedule is supported.

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience: Three years; OR Post-graduate pharmacy residency
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) from an accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Certifications/Licenses: Registered Pharmacist (RPh); Idaho Pharmacist License or must obtain with 120 days of hire


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with pharmacy benefits management
  • Previous Commercial, Medicare and/or Medicaid experience
  • 3 or more years clinical experience, preferably in managed care
  • Ability to manage end-to-end-processes

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to stay on schedule
  • Ability to work independently and within a team setting to achieve goals and meet deadlines
  • Ability to take initiative, manage multiple or competing priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Works with Blue Cross of Idaho stakeholders, providers, and members to ensure members receive the highest quality of care possible
  • Develop and implement Medicare STARs strategy as part of the Medicare STARs team
  • Performs analyses to inform operational strategy to hit goals
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range is $115,898 to $173,846. The position is eligible for an annual incentive bonus (variable depending on company and employee performance.

The pay range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, internal equity, geography, business or organizational needs, and alignment with market data. At Blue Cross of Idaho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for the position. Compensation decisions are dependent on factors and circumstances at the time of offer.
