Cybersecurity Engineer - Remote

Job Description:
As a Cybersecurity Engineer, you will work alongside established contractors and staff to secure multiple web and Windows-based applications used by internal and external client stakeholders. This role requires deep expertise in IT and cloud security, particularly in Azure environments, and experience in Agile/Scrum settings. You will be expected to apply industry best practices, regulatory standards, and cloud-native security tools to ensure a secure application and infrastructure environment. Strong communication skills are necessary to interface with technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide security engineering support for web and Windows applications in Azure environments
• Secure cloud infrastructure using tools like Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Azure Policy, and Key Vault
• Implement and manage Azure Active Directory, including conditional access, MFA, and identity protection
• Configure and monitor privileged identity management (PIM) and role-based access control (RBAC)
• Ensure secure hybrid connectivity through NSGs, ASGs, VPN, and ExpressRoute configurations
• Conduct threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and SIEM/SOAR tuning and incident response
• Automate security processes using PowerShell, ARM templates, Bicep, or Terraform
• Integrate security controls into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
• Prepare and deliver detailed documentation, reports, and architecture diagrams
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, and GDPR

Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in IT security or cloud security roles
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience securing Azure environments
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• Industry certifications such as MS Certified Cybersecurity Architect Expert, SC-300, Security+, CISSP, or CISM
• Proficiency with Azure Security Services (Defender, Sentinel, Key Vault, Security Centre, etc.)
• In-depth experience with Azure AD, PIM, RBAC, and hybrid security architecture
• Knowledge of networking security (NSGs, ASGs, VPNs, ExpressRoute)
• Understanding of compliance frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR, etc.)
• Experience in scripting/automation and secure DevOps practices
• Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills

The hourly range for roles of this nature are $50.00 to $80.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
