ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Make detailed investigations of incidents, potential safety and health hazards, employee concerns and suggestions and make recommendations for preventive or corrective actions.
- Work in coordination with Human Resources to ensure successful onboarding of new hires, completion of safety orientation, and enrollment into safety training programs to meet all regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with all health and safety issues; may involve working with off-site agencies and services such as Industrial Hygienists and Insurance Contacts.
- Schedule, organize and lead safety committee meetings; manage action items and track to completion.
- Gather, interpret, and prepare injury and statistical data, incident reports, regulatory reports, and reports of costs and occurrences to identify possible problem areas for continuous improvement.
- Develop strong supporting relationships with Operations team members to serve as a resource for safety policies, action plans, regulatory interpretations, and risk prevention programs and practices.
- Conduct routine safety audits, risk assessments, observations, etc. and record data. Create and assign actions and track to completion.
- Report injury claims for worker's compensation administration. Work in coordination with HR to serve as a liaison between injured employee and WC TPA to manage claims and facilitate timely return to work.
- Manage protective equipment through vending services and keep inventory up to date to ensure employees have required PPE.
- Obtain and keep current all professional certifications to meet regulatory requirements, as needed.
- Complete all other projects as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in health and safety management within an industrial manufacturing setting.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) is preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage others at all levels.
- Proven ability to lead safety initiatives and foster a culture of safety throughout the organization.
