Description:
The Senior Analytics Engineer role designs, analyzes and presents analytical solutions to multidisciplinary teams including but not limited to physicians, administrators and organizational leaders. The position requires a high degree of technical competence, and the ideal candidate will have significant experience in SQL and/or Business Intelligence software such as Power BI, Qlik or Tableau. The role will support analyzing complex financial and clinical data to design automated reporting solutions based on direction from senior leadership.
The position will support advancing our budgeting/forecasting process, KPI development and correlating financial and clinical data to design volume-based financial impacts. Communication skills with stakeholders and the ability to interpret complex data with tight deadlines will be paramount.
Various clinical and financial systems will be used as the data sources, including but not limited to Epic, PeopleSoft and various external systems. Final aggregation and presentation will be completed through various software packages, including Snowflake, SQL Developer, SSMS, Power BI and Qlik. The analyst must ensure reporting logic is accurate and optimized by comparing analytical output to data within the source systems, as well as through cross validation to base reports under the direction of the Director of Finance. The analyst must be able to work both independently as well as in a team setting.
The position is a flexible hybrid role with some in-person presence required.
Responsibilities
Analysis of complex financial data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or to project a financial probability
Perform complex statistical, cost and financial analysis on reported and forecasted results
Development of reporting and interpretation of financial and clinical reports to identify trends and review analytical outcomes with both financial and non-financial audiences
Development/Enhancement of system-wide KPI's for volume and financial based metrics
Role is heavily project-based that necessitates both an individual and team structure including development of presentations to executive leadership
Serve as a leader/mentor in the analytics space across the finance department including education, training, and use of best practices
Perform under tight deadlines. Communicate and interact with varying levels of UPMC personnel, including executive management, on a consistent basis. Manage certain key reports provided to senior management.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or other statistical science.
- Four years related work experience (or two years and preferred certification or Master's degree) required.
- Minimum of two years of experience in data/business analytics, data warehousing, business intelligence, information technology/information security/IT auditing required.
- Professional certification and/or Master's degree preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Certification Preferences: CISA, CISSP, CFE, CIA, CPA, CHC, CCEP, Six Sigma, ACDA.Licensure/Certification: Certification is preferred. - Act 34
