Amazon is looking for talented Postdoctoral Scientists to join our team for a one-year, full-time research position. Postdoctoral Scientists will innovate in key areas of machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, automated reasoning, robotics, or quantum technologies.

Within Pricing and Promotions Science, the Product Intelligence team leverages billion-scale multi-modal data on billions of Amazon and external competitor products to build advanced machine learning models for product pricing, similarity, substitutability, pricing-input error detection, pricing-input error correction, and probabilistic price estimation. As part of this mission, we investigate mechanisms to identify the key-product features that drive pricing. Through these models, we preserve long term customer trust by ensuring Amazon's prices are always competitive and error free.

Our scientists apply machine learning, optimization, causal modeling and game theory at scale to enhance the customer experience, help advertisers reach relevant audiences, and support brand building. In this role you will:

* Work closely with a senior science advisor, collaborate with other scientists and engineers, and be part of Amazon's vibrant and diverse global science community.

* Publish your innovation in top-tier academic venues and hone your presentation skills.

* Be inspired by challenges and opportunities to invent cutting-edge techniques in your area(s) of expertise.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* PhD in a relevant field, received within 2 years of starting the program

* Proven publication record in Machine Learning, Robotics, Computer Vision, AI, Computer Science, Econ, Operations Research, or other related technical fields

* Experience in data science and quantitative research

* Proficiency in technologies relevant to the subfield

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Ability to independently deliver results in a fast-paced environment

* Publications at top-tier, peer-reviewed conferences and/or journals

* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

* Expert knowledge in modeling and performance, operationalization, and scalability of scientific techniques and establishing decision strategies

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
