Position Summary:
The Lead Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Psychiatric MHNP) will support and mentor the Psychiatric MHNPs working within HealthPoint's Behavioral Health Department who deliver psychiatric medication assessments, consultations, and management services within the Primary Care Specialty Mental Health care pathway and as a part of an interdisciplinary primary care team. This effort includes clinical matrix management of all Psychiatric MHNPs. The Lead Psychiatric MHNP will directly report to the Comprehensive Behavioral Health Director. The Lead Psychiatric MHNP will also effectively coordinate with key members of the HealthPoint team including, but not limited to, operational and clinical regional and site leadership such as Regional Directors of Clinical Care and Operations/Patient Experience, Business Directors, Site Managers, Clinical Directors, Site Medical Directors, Site Dental Directors, and any others who are stakeholders or key partners in the success of the Behavioral Health Department. The Lead Psychiatric MHNP will also provide all the essential duties and responsibilities of a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Your contribution to the team includes:
- Partner with the Comprehensive Behavioral Health Director and other organizational leadership on the development, implementation and evaluation of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner position and workforce development which may include clinical pathways that support the integration of Psychiatric MHNPs into HealthPoint disciplinary teams and Behavioral Health Department.
- Perform clinical matrix supervision duties for all Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners in support of site leadership. This includes consulting on and, when needed, participating in hiring, orienting, and evaluating work performance of, as well as mentoring our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners in clinical and professional growth.
- Stay up to date on local and national discussions about the integration of psychiatric medication management services into primary care healthcare and incorporate this knowledge into our team and organization. Recognize the importance of population health related to the care delivery of psychiatric medication assessments and consultations which includes an emphasis on the population of HealthPoint patients and the communities HealthPoint serves, a diverse approach to capturing patient visits or interactions with HealthPoint primary care interdisciplinary team (such as use of warm handoffs or same day visits to collaborate with PCPs or BHCs to support patient care outcomes in the teachable moment or consultations with team members about patient care recommendations), and rates of new patient engagement (access measures and penetration rates of service).
- Assist with aspects of the Psychiatric MHNP role within the Primary Care Specialty Mental Health care pathway by working with the Comprehensive Behavioral Health Director and at times with additional Senior Leadership and Regional leadership to support activities that may include: problem solving systems issues, training for provider and non-provider Health Center staff when a new Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner position opens, other personnel activities such as training, team building, and new program development.
- Provide outpatient psychiatric evaluation and medication management services from a population health model approach as a part of an integrated primary care behavioral health team.
- Work in coordination with the patient's primary care provider and a behavioral health provider to assess, treat, and provide psychiatric medication management to patients with behavioral health issues.
- Prescribe, recommend, or discontinue medications and treatments to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders in consultation with the patient's primary care team.
- Provide mental health education and consultation to the primary care team on medication in regard to the identification of mental health needs and therapeutic mental health practices.
- Prescribe psychotropic medications and conduct regular assessments of therapeutic responses and side effects and educate patients and patient family members as appropriate regarding psychotropic medications and side effects.
- Examine or order laboratory or diagnostic tests for patients to provide information on general physical condition and mental disorders.
- Collaborate with guardians, relatives, and significant others on patient's conditions and treatment when clinically appropriate.
- Participate in medical team/program staff meetings and other meetings as needed.
- Attend staff meetings, in-service meetings and participate in agency committees and task force activities as required.
Must have's you'll need to be successful:
- Master's or Doctorate Degree in Nursing with focus on Psychiatric nursing and graduation from a state-certified advanced practice program specializing in psychiatry/mental health, and six (6) months to one (1) year of experience in an outpatient behavioral health setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMH) as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
- *An unrestricted license to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in the state of Washington.
