PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Constellation is the Company's power marketing and trading organization responsible for optimizing the profitability of a dynamic portfolio of generation assets and load obligations. Constellation is also responsible for identifying and executing growth opportunities to achieve financial and risk management objectives. The Strategic Transactor function plays a key role in achieving these objectives. By working as a key deal team participant, we are the primary partner for Retail Sales and Power Origination and provide commercial reviews, vetting, and strategic and portfolio fit assessment of wholesale and retail power transactions and capital investments. Our team also supports commercial due diligence for merger, acquisition, and divestiture projects.
The ideal candidate will understand the front, mid- and back-office functions in a commodity trading organization, as well as the Corporate and GenCo functions that drive and support larger corporate transactions (Corporate Development, Finance/Treasury, Credit, Risk, Legal, Regulatory, etc.). This candidate will be capable of engaging resources and facilitating active deal teams within the Commercial organization. The individual should have an understanding of pricing models used to evaluate gross margins for structured origination opportunities along with an understanding of financial valuations. The position will appeal to an individual that desires to apply their knowledge of commodity markets and transaction structures (options, purchase power agreements, asset management, load serving, prepays, etc.) and financial evaluation techniques (probabilistic vs. deterministic, risk/return assessments) in the successful evaluation and execution of value add transactions. Candidates will be required participate in presentations of business opportunities to senior management and contribute to achieving business results in a rapidly changing and challenging industry.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Partner with commercial leads to vet, structure, navigate internal approvals, and execute structured wholesale or retail power transactions; may include leading or facilitating deal teams; Power Purchase Agreement, Tolling Agreement, or other contractual review; and portfolio and strategic fit assessment
- Act as a commercial liaison for larger corporate transactions with Corporate Development participating in or facilitating Revenue Net Fuel (RNF) generation or development of other market-facing price views
- Work with deal sponsors to prioritize opportunities to efficiently utilize commercial and analytical resources, and to ensure timely commercial and management review; ensure commercial inputs are developed and reviewed by internal subject matter experts.
- Provide continuity in strategic thinking across the organization through transactional work, competitive intelligence sharing, and cross-organizational projects
- Participate in Commercial Strategy and support Asset Optimization processes to identify targeted value-add opportunities that both align with our strategies and increase profitability and efficiency
- Leverage financial expertise to review and validate financial inputs for asset investments using market comparables, third party assessments and internal fundamental projections. Ensure adherence to pricing and financial standards, and approval processes
- - Act as a general commercial liaison for ad hoc Corporate-wide or sponsored projects such as regulatory efforts or projecting financing
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- An undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Marketing, Engineering or equivalent experience
- Three to five years (8 yrs) relevant work experience, including understanding of commercial terms and risks associated with various structured transactions
- Basic understanding and knowledge of market rules, operations, and settlements
- Knowledge of pricing techniques for structured transactions
- Solid process management discipline
- Strong computer skills including knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Products
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal
- Ability to work in a team environment across organizational boundaries
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Structured transaction and/or M&A experience preferred
- Advance degree (e.g., MBA in Finance, or Marketing, Master's in Engineering).
