Plastic Extrusion Tooling Design Engineer

This full-time, permanent position as a Plastic Extrusion Tooling Design Engineer offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, financially stable, and growing ISO-certified manufacturer of plastic extrusion products. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in shaping the tooling design for profile, co-extrusion, and tri-extrusion, while being part of a team that prioritizes technology, employee-friendly environments, and internal growth. Located in Kohler, Wisconsin, this role allows you to advance possibly to a department head while contributing significantly to operations with innovative, efficient solutions.

Salary: Up to $85,000 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Creating intricate designs for plastic extrusion tooling specializing in profile, co-extrusion, and tri-extrusion.
  • Overseeing projects including design, building modifications, tooling installation, and maintenance to support manufacturing operations.
  • Providing hands-on support and guidance to machine operators and machinists, working collaboratively to enhance output and efficiency.
  • Adjusting and calibrating extrusion tooling to meet production requirements and quality standards.
  • Engaging with the manufacturing team to troubleshoot issues and develop sustainable improvements in the production process.

Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • At least three years of experience in designing plastic extrusion tooling for profile, co-extrusion, and tri-extrusion.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strong extrusion processing.
  • Solid work history, showcasing dedication and consistent career progression within the industry.
  • Current residency within a 45-minute range of Kohler, Wisconsin, or willingness to relocate (note: no relocation assistance provided).
  • Must be a US citizen or a Green Card holder.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience leading teams or projects within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with high attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume manufacturing setting is a plus.

Skills:
  • Proficiency in MasterCAM and Fusion 360 for designing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of effective collaboration with teams across the production cycle.
  • Adaptability to shift between tasks with varying complexity.
