As a Principal Network Technology Engineer, you will be responsible for hands-on functions that ultimately results in the delivery of network applications, services, or solutions and each of the environments in which these elements will be deployed. Responsible for translating the core architecture from business requirements into the final technical solution.

The final solution will be deployed in a purpose-built, cloud- based or hybrid environment that includes hardware and software using functional, performance, and reliability analysis using new or existing engineering models and techniques.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Design, plan, develop and/or evaluate new, advanced hardware and software technologies and enhancements/modifications of existing products for addition and/or application to existing network systems
  • Recommends network architecture and network evolution strategy in support of corporate initiatives, customer demand, technology changes, economic and service reliability criteria
  • Evaluates new and emerging hardware and software technologies for addition and/or application to existing cloud-based and purpose-built network systems
  • Develop new or use existing network modeling and planning methodologies to develop the best cost-considerate solutions and 3+ Year technology strategic roadmap
  • Define subsystems interfaces, identify, and allocate application resources for software-defined network elements of cloud-based and purpose-built platforms that may be developed internally and by vendors
  • Develop test and implementation plans, including M&P, for both internally designed and vendor-developed hardware/software solutions
  • Evaluate impact of vendor's solution on Mobility and Wireline networks and/or applications, service, or solution
  • May perform product engineering assignments, including design, development, M&P, and testing of network hardware, firmware, or software solutions
  • Lead and roll out design and design changes to partner organizations
  • Work across the different domain teams to define end-to-end, system-level design requirements, as well as providing architectural expertise and guidance to the cross-functional teams (Labs, Global Technology Planning, Operations, Project Management, etc.) from requirements through to deployment


Required Experience:
  • 8- 10 years' experience; Technical Career Pathway (TCP) role


Desired Education:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Science, Electrical Engineering, or Math; Developer nanodegree; or equivalent experience preferred


Our Principal Network Technology Engineer earns between $128,400 - $231,100 annually. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
