Payroll Manager / Lead
We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Manager / Lead to oversee payroll operations for our US and Canada-based employees, ensuring seamless execution in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This is an exciting opportunity to lead, coach, and upscale a dedicated payroll team within a growing organization.
Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, coach, and develop the payroll team to achieve operational excellence and continuous improvement.
• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for US and Canadian employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all federal, state/provincial, and local regulations.
• Support union payroll processing, including interpretation and application of union agreements.
• Leverage UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) systems for payroll operations; Workday experience is a plus.
• Oversee and ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations, filings, and remittances across multiple jurisdictions.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains, particularly within a high-volume, unionized workforce.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders including HR, Finance, and external auditors.
• Provide strategic consulting insights to optimize payroll operations and enhance employee satisfaction.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Deep understanding of US and Canadian payroll regulations, practices, and tax requirements.
• Experience working with high-volume payroll, including unionized employee groups.
• Strong experience with UKG payroll systems; Workday knowledge is a significant plus.
• Consulting background highly desirable.
• Proven track record of team development and upscaling initiatives.
• Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
