Mars United Commerce is currently seeking a Director, Alc/Bev Category inclusive of On Premise to lead the company's efforts to deliver programming and expand relationships alcoholic beverage industry customers within an assigned territory. This person will work closely with internal and external teams leading the annual planning process, developing Trade and Shopper Marketing strategies for assigned brands/retailers and leading growth of assigned businesses.
The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of selling to and managing alcoholic beverage industry clients, strong relationships within those organizations and proven strategic abilities. You will use your planning and leadership skills to develop partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, driving growth of our clients.

Compensation Range: $119,510 - $188,025 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide thought leadership, impacting/contributing to client's way of doing business on an ongoing basis
- Act as a change agent/impact player from both an internal and external perspective - contributing to both client and The Mars Agency's performance
- Manage client budgets, ensuring profitability for The Mars Agency and contributing to overall department bonus attainment
- Develop annual business plan, setting short- and long-term strategic course for growth of assigned business
- Build strong relationships with the client while working closely with cross-functional teams including consumer marketing, trade development, operations, merchandising, and category managers, directors and buyers
- Partner with suppliers and internal stakeholders to jointly plan the growth of client business in the on-premise channel.
- Partner with internal teams to create innovative and sustainable selling platforms for our customers leveraging the latest beverage trends. Develop pull through programs to insure high levels of sales velocity.
- Engage applicable third-party promotional agencies and sell core supplier brands during program development for those national and regional accounts that have retained agency services.
- Demonstrated outstanding relationship building capabilities with senior sales leaders at the supplier, distributor and customer tiers.
- Demonstrate financial responsibility related to client scope of work, hours management and staffing needs.
- Build strong relationships with both client and retailer while working closely with cross-functional teams including consumer marketing, trade development, operations, merchandising, and category managers
- Understand how an agency works and embracing the tools and continually learning about our ways of working
SKILL SETS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in advertising, business administration, management, marketing, business, or related field - MBA preferred
- Minimum of 8 years of marketing or advertising experience, preferably with alcoholic beverage experience selling to and managing national accounts, specifically Bloomin' Brands, Texas Roadhouse, BWW, Applebee's, Hooters, Chili's, Darden and Topgolf
- Dynamic personality able to effectively engage and influence a variety of audiences
- A wealth of industry knowledge including current trends, consumer packaged goods and retailer information, and business philosophies
- Motivational leadership, inspiring team to deliver top performance every day against assigned business
- Strategic thinking in the development of Trade Marketing programs and management of day-to-day business
- Sound decision making skills
- Passion about business and dissatisfaction with status quo - always thinking of ways to improve/grow assigned client/business
- Strong listening skills and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Desire to dig in and do what's needed to get the job done right
