Responsibilities:

Responsibilities Overview:
  • Support the department's goals by managing all projects and ensuring they meet regulatory, compliance, and security requirements.
  • Stay up to date on all internal and external regulations.
  • Ensure all department policies, procedures, safety protocols, training, systems, and standards-including ICRA procedures-are followed for maximum efficiency.

Project & Staff Coordination:
  • Oversee manpower usage by assigning daily work tasks and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Use innovative scheduling to make the best use of available resources, working with other departments when needed.

Safety & Compliance:
  • Act as Project Safety Director on projects, representing UPMC and ensuring proper implementation of Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) measures.
  • Maintain safety barriers and lighting, attend safety meetings, and act as the point of contact for the corporate insurance agent.
  • Ensure OSHA standards are met by inspecting all project areas for safe equipment use and enforcing safety compliance among staff and subcontractors. Take corrective actions when needed.

Communication & Oversight:
  • Attend project-related meetings such as pre-construction and technical site meetings to monitor progress and resolve issues.
  • Coordinate with Infection Control, Environmental Health and Safety, Security, Owners, Architects, and support departments to maintain clear communication.
  • Address customer complaints promptly and professionally.

Tracking & Documentation:
  • Ensure all projects are documented in the TMS Work Order System.
  • Make sure projects are correctly coded for labor reimbursement when necessary.


Qualifications:

Education Required:
  • Associate's degree or completion of an accredited Apprentice Program or Education Agreement.
  • Trade school, Vocational-Technical or Union approved apprenticeship preferred.

Years of Experience Required:
  • 7 years of facilities/maintenance/engineering experience is required including 3 years' leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of hospital construction and healthcare equipment preferred.
  • Ability to develop and monitor budgets for construction projects required.
  • Good leadership, collaboration, communication, and teamwork skills required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project with the ability to operate computerized building management systems and CMMS systems.
  • Military experience considered for requirement components as applicable.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Must possess appropriate license or registration to meet code requirements, as needed.
