Reports To: Supervising Orthopedic Surgeon
Inpatient/Outpatient: 100% inpatient
Case Load: Adults, very rare pediatric cases (if so, traumas), elective and consultations.
Position Overview:
Seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic orthopedic team at our Level 1 Trauma Comprehensive Stroke Center. This inpatient-only role, scheduled for four 10-hour shifts from 6 AM to 4 PM, focuses on providing comprehensive care to patients with musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background in orthopedics, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Inpatient rounding, postoperative care and management of elective surgeries, consultations.
Ortho exp. Required - will accept new grads with ortho surgery background as RN
Schedule - 6a-4p
Weekend requirement - Yes, every 4th currently.
Call requirement - No call requirement.

In collaboration with a physician, provides for the expansion of individualized primary healthcare services by diagnosing and treating certain acute or chronic health conditions. Responsibilities: Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.| Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.| Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.| Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy.
Qualifications:
NP - Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)
PA - Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
NP - Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan
PA - Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Licensure and Certification
Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan, or in process of applying (must have proof of application)
National certification as an NP or PA (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
DEA/CSL, required through credentialing.
Experience
Ortho exp. Required
EPIC Experience, preferred.
