The focus of the role is to ensure a sustainable, profitable portfolio of fairly designed/priced products that meet our clients' needs. The product pricing actuary and team are accountable for the financial health of the line - including all ifrs-17 compliance, reinsurance treaty/relationships, monitoring, audit, data and analytics, business decisions, etc. The product pricing actuary defines, drives, and leads the execution of the product roadmap in support of the 4 Year Plan. The role is empowered to make business decisions across functional areas.

How you will create impact:

  • Create product solutions for client unique lending needs, includes new client facing - active listening, design, price, offer while following all applicable pricing policy/professional standards and ensuring the fair treatment of the consumer
  • Create and drive product development within the product roadmap in support of the 4 Year Plan
  • Monitor all impacting forces on portfolio profitability, expenses and premium; empowered to implement changes required to ensure sustainability
  • Consult for shared services and functions and escalations - all key stakeholders (external clients, business partners, internal partners)
  • Active management of all creditor reinsurance programs
  • Accountable for integrity of (product content of) all contractual documents for new and existing clients and customers
  • Includes continuous monitoring and participation in creditor industry committees, publications, events, etc.

To join our team:

  • You have 5-7 years of experience in insurance product development, pricing or other actuarial discipline.
  • You have a bachelor's degree in mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics or Business/Commerce.
  • You have a professional designation in FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) or FCIA (Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries)
  • You have expert knowledge of actuarial principles - pricing, product development, ifrs-17 impacts
  • You have expertise negotiating, reviewing, implementing reinsurance treaties plus all client and customer contracts
  • You have the ability to lead a team of actuarial students and product experts to drive business results under the strategy of the 4 Year Plan AND lead across functions
  • You have proven ability to combine detailed specifics and critical thinking/assessment, with creativity, to deliver unique product solutions that drive growth and set the portfolio up for sustained profitability
