About the Role
The Accounting Manager - Special Projects will oversee and manage various accounting initiatives, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with GAAP. This role involves cross-functional collaboration across departments to address complex accounting matters, particularly those related to mergers and acquisitions (M&A), system implementations and integrations, and other efficiency-driven improvements to existing operational systems.
What the Candidate Will Do
- Lead and manage special accounting projects, including M&A transactions, system implementations and integrations, and process improvements on existing systems and data flows to support decision-making.
- Partner with senior leadership to align projects with the company's strategic objectives, identifying key deliverables and milestones.
- Perform complex financial analyses and research to ensure compliance with US GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and address the financial impact of special projects.
- Prepare and review accounting documentation, journal entries, and disclosures for complex transactions.
- Develop and maintain internal accounting procedures to reflect current and future compliance requirements.
- Monitor project progress and report updates to stakeholders.
- Document processes and provide training to key accounting team members involved in special projects.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on process improvement and special projects.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience in financial reporting and analysis.
- Proven project management skills, with a history of successfully managing and completing multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Proficiency in accounting software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with M&A transactions and related accounting considerations.
- Familiarity with financial systems and process flows.
- Understanding of transactional processes for accounts receivable and accounts payable, and their impact on general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
