Job Summary:
The Clinical Manager will bring strong clinical leadership skills and expertise to the inpatient team with the goal of supporting coordination and delivery of care for clients.
This position will work in partnership with the EHN Guardians Gateway leadership team. The Clinical Manager will provide direct leadership, mentorship, and guidance to clinical and support staff (including registered practical nurses and mental health and addiction workers) to ensure seamless delivery of day-to-day clinical operations through the coordination of client services and organizational activities.
The preferred candidate has proven and effective leadership and clinical skills including crises management and de-escalation, a commitment to high quality work, client safety, and is outcome driven all while demonstrating a strong commitment to excellent client care.
Job Function and Duties:
Overseeing continuity of day-to-day clinical operations and delivery of client care
Leading a team of registered practical nurses and mental health and addiction workers.
Ongoing assessment of team skill level while providing coaching, mentorship, and supervision; making recommendations for learning and education as required
Ongoing employee performance evaluation and management
Working collaboratively with clients and families to continuously improve the client experience
Ability to support and/or assume clinical responsibilities (provision of therapeutic interventions, group facilitation, etc.) as required
Ability to support teams in managing complex client situations (conflict, treatment interfering behaviors, crisis situations, etc.)
Fosters collaborative partnerships and communication with internal and external stakeholders
Identifies and communicates recommendations for clinical opportunities and system improvement
Reviewing clinical documentation and reports for quality assurance
Responsible for recruitment and onboarding of clinical staff
Supports continuous quality improvement in clinical programming and organizational initiatives using effective change management strategies
Participates in policy and procedure development and implementation
Works in partnership with other departments to ensure centre and organizational goals are met
Rotational on call responsibilities as a member of the clinical leadership team (after hours and weekends)
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Masters degree in a healthcare related discipline preferred
Membership and good standing with a regulatory college required
Minimum 2 years experience in a clinical leadership or supervisory role required
Minimum 5 years clinical experience in mental health and addictions in an inpatient or residential setting required
Exposure to a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities (ACT, CBT, DBT, CPT, exposure therapy, etc.) preferred
Strong leadership skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work successfully, both independently and as part of a team
Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills to intervene in clinically complex situations
Ability to navigate ambiguity in a complex and fast-paced environment
Proven success in managing change and transforming workplace culture
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to support collaboration with a diverse multi-disciplinary team
Crisis training and/or de-escalation training considered a strong asset
Computer literacy, including familiarity with MS Office suite, staffing and workload applications
