AMI will provide comprehensive medical care and support to individuals in a migrant processing center, ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare in a secure and controlled environment.

Job Summary:

The ICU Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU. They manage the ICU equipment, ensure compliance with safety protocols, and provide support to families during challenging times. They will work in collaboration with the interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care with minimal supervision.

Duties/Responsibilities:

ICU Duties:

  • Must be equipped with current principles, techniques, and procedures used in professional nursing, medical terminology, and patient care routines appropriate to a clinical setting.
  • Performs comprehensive assessments of critically ill patients upon admission to the ICU.
  • Develops and implements individualized care plans based on patient assessments, incorporating input from healthcare professionals.
  • Performs 24/7 bedside monitoring for critical care or high dependency patients in the ICU.
  • Administers medications, intravenous fluids, and life-saving interventions as prescribed.
  • Assists with the insertion and management of invasive monitoring devices, such as arterial lines and central venous catheters.
  • Monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms, arterial blood gases, and other physiological parameters.
  • Participates in code blue responses and emergency situations within the ICU.
  • Ensures the emergency ICU equipment is readily available and functional.
  • Manages and utilizes a variety of complex equipment and monitors in the ICU including mechanical ventilators. Adjusts settings and troubleshoots alarms.
  • Ensures all equipment used in patient care is sterilized and properly stored after every use.
  • Handles setting up and calibrating various ICU equipment infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, dialysis machines, etc.
  • Maintains an inventory checklist for ICU equipment, reports any faults, and coordinates equipment maintenance or replacements as needed.
  • Oversees and monitors the ICU supplies and reports upward for refills in a timely manner.
  • Prepares and submits necessary reports.


General Nursing Duties:
  • Performs all other general nursing duties and activities including administration and management of clinical procedures, operating medical equipment, monitoring patients' treatment progress, etc.
  • Delivers professional health services including in/outpatient pediatric and adult nursing care services which adheres to the clinic's policies.
  • Conducts rounds with physicians and observes instructions regarding treatment alterations.
  • Ensures nursing care and the treatment plan is administered in accordance with the physician's instructions and in a timely manner.
  • Escorts patients to the doctor's consultation office and acts as chaperone as and when required.
  • Maintains and adheres to medication storage procedures and controlled substance regulations.
  • Assists in transporting patients for external diagnostic procedures and referrals.
  • Maintains and complies with all Infection Prevention Control (IPC), Waste Management, and Health and Safety regulations.
  • Maintains a safe and clean environment ensuring workstation, ward areas, and patients' rooms are in a hygienic and comfortable state.
  • Ensures visiting hours are adhered to by the patient's relatives and friends and controls traffic flow.
  • Maintains continuity among the nursing team by ensuring proper hand over between shifts.
  • Maintains a proper documentation and filing system and ensures patients medical records are securely kept and accurately updated.
  • Attends all trainings sessions, general staff, and nurses' meetings as required.
  • Adheres to the national nursing regulations and maintains a valid practice license.
  • Assists the billing department with the appropriate information needed to process patient's payments or requests for Guarantees of Payment (GOP) as deemed necessary.
  • The job duties are flexible and subject to change depending upon operational needs.


Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Must be able to successfully complete the AMI Credentialing Process.
  • Proficiency in technology including Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Office.


Education & Experience:
  • Updated CV and active nursing license to practice
  • Required Education: State Registered Nurse with specialization in Critical Care
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and IPC
  • Years of experience needed: minimum 3 years of professional experience in nursing practice and at least 1 year in ICU
  • Honest and reliable: displays a high level of integrity
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment
  • Good knowledge of nursing principles and techniques and their relation to medical practice


Additional Requirements:
  • Must be able to work in a safe manner following all safety rules and regulations. Must work as a team member to improve safety culture and quality.
  • Read and follow instructions. Demonstrate safe work behavior.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently.
  • Written and spoken fluency in English (Spanish also highly preferred).
