Position Overview:
The Director, Safety and Security is responsible for leading initiatives related to safety with an additional focus on security. These initiatives help create a stronger culture by working with Operational Leadership teams as well as the responsible parties within the Safety Department. This role is responsible for teaching, mentoring and guiding the operations leadership teams to execute Company policy, identify best practices and implement those best practices through providing leadership to drive continuous improvement in performance, while assuring comprehensive operational compliance through the use of auditing. This role also maintains relationships with law enforcement authorities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Safety Management
- Develop and drive Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) strategy, control procedures, and direct/support auditing processes to ensure strategy builds a culture of no harm to people, our community, to the environment; and its operational effectiveness is validated by annual reviews of the safety management system.
- Identifies, develops plans, and executes technical improvement projects across a multi-disciplinary team to achieve annual corporate EHS objectives to ensure the organization's performance with respect to the long-range improvement plan.
- Influences and coaches site leadership on execution of robust EHS&S action plans to improve safety, emergency response, environmental, stewardship performance that fosters full employee engagement.
- Build and develop a talented team while encouraging open employee communication and engagement via development, training, and performance management.
- Serve as a model and drive the EHS culture through the team
- Foster a continuous improvement, innovative culture through the organization to achieve Best in Class practices and results.
- Develops a robust set of leading indicators that serves to focus on the correct areas for mitigating risks and producing excellent EHS results within business operations.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of multi-national environmental, OSHA, and CDC legislations and guidelines. Informs relevant parties of legislation requirements, and how the changes will affect operations. Leads team to implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislation.
- Develops and manages enterprise-wide environmental program capabilities including corporate environmental contracts for effective waste management, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and contingency operations.
- Enhances and administers systems supporting EHS processes to provide transparency relating to performance and focuses continuous improvement initiatives that mitigate risk, enable sharing best practices / lessons learned in order to reduce incidents and drive business performance.
- Provides corporate EHS guidance and supports plans for due diligence, new acquisition integration, process re-design, equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, decommissioning activities, and repair, development, and closure operations.
- Communicates corporate environmental performance, liabilities, and risks with executive management and other key stakeholders, as appropriate.
- Clarifies environmental responsibilities and expectations with customers, vendors and; provides technical support for corporate contract negotiations when needed.
Security Management
- Oversee and manage the administration of security services.
- Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are in place and maintained.
- Ensure the security vendor team is compliant with SOPs, established contractual staffing levels, and performance expectations.
- Alignment of security capability and activities with wider departmental and company business objectives.
- Lead for the collection, analysis, assessment, and dissemination of protective intelligence to enable proactive security initiatives and effective threat management
- The design, implementation, operationalization, and improvement of security and security management programs across all levels and areas of the business.
- Manage Security management compliance program to ensure that all offices, and Logistics Center comply with company security and risk management policies, standards, and procedures.
- Coordinating with the IT Information Security team and supporting Information Security initiatives to protect the company and guest data.
- Design and delivery of security training programs
- Liaison officer for all external security, law enforcement and intelligence matters.
- Assess, develop, implement, and maintain preventative, emergency, and recovery security action plans.
- Perform other related job duties as required, within the scope of training and expertise.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Criminal Justice, or related field. Masters degree is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in Occupational Safety, and asset protection, and complex investigations. Experience within the corporate, distribution, warehousing, and/or logistics industry is a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with Injury Prevention Programs.
- Experience with OSHA regulations and enforcement.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with security systems technology.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate and resolve security issues and challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with and educate all levels of an internal, vendor, and customer staff in security matters.
- Experience in vendor contract negotiation and administration.
- Excellent problem-solving and investigative skills
- Ability to travel up to approximately 25% to 50% of the time.
