,The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) will utilize specialized knowledge and skills to provide comprehensive care to gynecologic patients in an academic medical center. The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is responsible for performing duties independently following established and standardized procedures and methods referring questionable situations to physician. The APN provides primary health care through assessment, diagnosis, clinical judgment and management to restore, maintain and improve the health status of patients. Participates in a collegial relationship with the physicians, nurses and other health care professionals. Under the supervision of the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences and in collaboration with the director of complex benign and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery program provide care to gynecology patients with multiple, often complicated chronic medical problems

Job Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of a Masters' Degree required.
- Certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse by the Board of Nursing with prescriptive authority in the State of New Jersey.
- At least two (2) years of nursing experience in urogynecology, gynecology or related Women's health field in a hospital or clinic setting, is required, preferably in an Advanced Practice role. Previous experience in the pelvic pain/endometriosis/MIGS specialty area is highly desirable.

Essential Functions:
- Work with the physicians/surgeons/APP colleagues and other clinical and administrative staff to ensure efficient patient management based on accepted practice, including but not limited to, performing histories and physicals, pre-operative planning/coordinating with outside providers and PCPs as applicable, responding to change in patient status, providing needed prescriptions/evaluations/referral/treatments as permitted under standardized procedure.
- Provide home health services evaluations, referrals, consultations, PT, order radiographic or diagnostic requests, and specialized treatments. Provide patient and family education, arrange follow-up appointments.
- Performs comprehensive initial and episodic health histories and physical exams; in order to identify existing or potential health problems. Initiates and implements an individualized nursing and medical plan of care in collaboration with members of interdisciplinary team.
- Orders and reviews diagnostic test results (e.g., mammograms, imaging studies, and laboratory tests), including assistance with prior authorization of certain tests, and collaborates with physicians on test results that deviate from the norm. Be able to interpret and act upon ordered tests, procedures, and radiographic studies.
- Answers patient phone calls daily, collaborates with physicians for any treatment plans, and calls patients back to affect this plan. Effectively communicate with family or patients in person, telephone and/or other electronic modalities in a timely manner. Ensure in their absence, appropriate clinical coverage has been arranged for patient management and communication as appropriate.
- Triage select patient calls for urgent clinic visits or ER evaluation.
- Completes patient-related forms (including disability and driving forms), preauthorizations, and drafts letters of medical necessity.
- Provide and coordinate quality gynecologic care for women from diverse populations and settings.
