About the Position
As the Director of Tech Operations, you are responsible for managing the technical systems and processes that support the business operations and the reliability of our product to customers. The role is a player coach role. The ideal candidate has experience leading a small team but is also very hands on technically.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement technical strategies ensuring system reliability, security, and compliance.
- Oversee and maintain enterprise IT infrastructure, including cloud platforms, storage, and endpoint management.
- Maintain IT policies, standards, and best practices to ensure system reliability, performance, and security.
- Partner with software architecture and development teams for product implementation, deployment support, client/partner issue resolution, and issue triage as needed.
- Oversee DevOps and Security staff.
- Manage access to account systems including enabling and disabling MS365 accounts, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Octopus, etc.
- Manage IT assets, ensuring optimal lifecycle management of hardware and software.
- Lead the vendor management efforts for all supporting systems and tools used. Manage licenses, evaluate vendor performance, and negotiate agreements as needed.
- Manage the administration and enhancement of business operations applications, identifying opportunities for seamless integration across platforms.
- Lead monitoring efforts, ensuring proactive issue detection, rapid response, and minimal disruptions.
- Manage the disaster recovery and business continuity plans working with cross-functional teams.
- Play a strong role in vendor audits, vulnerability assessments, and vulnerability remediation.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend strategic upgrades to optimize IT operations.
About You
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years in IT operations in a SaaS company, start-up experience preferred
- Strong networking knowledge (firewalls, VPNs, load balancers)
- Strong cloud experience (Azure preferred)
- Deep knowledge of site reliability engineering (SRE) practices, and monitoring frameworks
- Proficiency with monitoring tools
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to be on-call as needed
