Nature of Work
The purpose of this advanced professional and supervisory position is to help oversee the operations and administration of the Community Violence Prevention Programs. Work includes but is not limited to: managing and streamlining the daily office operations, developing and monitoring the office budgets, supervising staff, preparing contracts, grant applications and reports, acting as governmental liaison to various community groups and organizations, drafting governance and administrative policies and associated administrative guidelines for policy implementation, and preparing documents and reports. More specific examples of work under this position include, but are not limited to:

Duties and Responsibilities Specific to the Administrative Service Officer II - Community Violence Prevention Manager
- Engage in all aspects of community violence intervention programs;
- Engage and work in partnership with City departments, task forces, and members of community to shift the focus of community violence intervention and reduction efforts to the health, safety, and well-being of entire communities;
- Provide further support and alignment for the great work that is already being performed by the SAFE Taskforce, Cure Violence Grand Rapids, Public Safety Committee, and many community, governmental, and faith-based organizations;
- Support programming efforts, co-created with community, that advance violence intervention and prevention efforts;
- Create and present City Commission agenda item preparation and presentations related to work;
- Draft for publication media releases and other communication tools (social media, videos, etc.) for the Community Violence Prevention programs;
- Create and draft City policy and procedures related to the Community Violence Intervention Programs;
- Research, develop, and implement City staff and community training on community violence intervention programs;
- Supervise work of subordinate staff assigned;
- Manage and convene cross-departmental teams for systems change related projects;

Minimum Training and Experience
- Possession of a bachelor's degree in accounting or business or public administration.
--AND--
- Five (5) years of accounting or human service administrative experience, including one year of supervision.
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Other Necessary Qualifications
Knowledge of:
- Accounting and budget principles, techniques and practices.
- Budget preparation and administration.
- Federal, state and local laws, regulations, standards and policies related to public administration.
- Computer applications and use in an accounting and clerical support office.
- Effective supervisory methods and techniques.
- Training methods, techniques, and procedures.
- Plan, organize, schedule, coordinate, assign, and evaluate the work of managerial, professional, technical and clerical staff.
- Maintain organized records, compile and analyze statistical data.
- Assess, define, and provide for the training needs of subordinate personnel.
- Apply complex federal, state and city guidelines to accounting, purchasing, and management information systems.
- Develop and implement programs.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Maintain records and prepare reports.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, government officials, and citizens.
